Yes they are non-toxic though it's not recommended to use them on anything food related ... ie - don't luck it You will get a conclusive answer if you asked Google.

Q: are they waterproof and will they right on plastic and stay permanent

The black ones might but the coloured ones absolutely don't. I received a pack only 3 weeks ago, wrote a lot of plant labels and only the black ones are still visible. Those in the other colours have completely disappeared....after only 3 weeks!

Q: Would these smudge on pearlescent card?

Hello CG I have used these pens on plastic ,wood, card etc. , with no problems. the ink dries instantly .I think you will find them ok . Regards Peter

Not sure. I don't see why not. Give it a try and maybe keep the bags dry on the outside!
