As I have difficulty sleeping through warm summer nights, we had a fan fitted directly over our bed a few years ago. It didn’t prove to be that effective and we decided to change it.THE GLITI FANWe bought this fan to replace our previous more expensive one, costing three times as much, that we had found to be both noisy and ineffective. This GLITI fan is not an expensive one, our choice being influenced by the positive reviews from other buyers rather than by the price.We had the fan fitted by an electrician, the same electrician who had fitted the previous one. On turning it on he was immediately amazed by how quiet it was. He said that it was the quietest one that he had ever fitted.In use we have found that the lowest speed setting is barely audible and yet it produces a ‘breeze’ that we find is surprisingly cooling, even on the warmest nights! Our previous fan had to be set to its highest and noisiest speed to come anywhere as close to a cooling breeze and at that setting it was difficult to sleep through the noise.THE LIGHTThe light is exceptionally bright, probably too bright to turn on in the middle of the night without it waking up your partner. Selecting the other ‘colours’ of the light is not explained in the instructions. Other reviewers have had the same problem and managed to work out that turning the light on/off and then on again from the remote switch will cycle the light through the three ‘colours’.THE REMOTEThe remote is simple to understand and works as it should. It somehow manages to control several different functions ie fan speed, time off delay, summer/winter function, light ‘colours’, without any issues whatsoever.THE INSTRUCTIONSThe instructions could be clearer and more comprehensive e.g. the control of the light ‘colours’ is not explained at all. With that one exception though, they are acceptable.OVERALLI cannot believe just how quiet this fan is or how effective it is at cooling. Don’t be put off by the ‘low’ price, this fan definitely outperforms much more expensive ones. It is brilliant!
