Neat ideas Magnetic Water Conditioner, Active 3000 (670)- Reduces Limescale build up, cleans pipes

I bought this for my father as we have had something similar for years. It comes in 2 pieces so easily clips around the main water pipe. It uses permanent magnets to reduce the amount of limescale that builds up inside the washing machine etc. It is possible to spend a lot more on a similar device that has to be plugged into the electricity but performs no better.

A plumber told us the complexities of fitting a chemical water softener - separate piping for drinking water etc, so we thought we would try this as if it did nothing at least we would have some powerful magnets for the grandchildren to play with. Water companies publish on-line the composition of the water - ours is from Strensham (Severn-Trent Water) and isn't particularly hard, but we do get some scale. I suspect that the effectiveness of these magnets depends on the composition of the water, so that may be why some people report good results and others don't.We have put magnets on the pipes to the hot water and cold water feeds from the stop cock and they do seem to do something. We do stil get residue spots, but they are much easier to wipe off. Before it was necessary to wet the spots and polish, now a quick wipe with a soft cloth removes them. Really noticeable when washing the car or cleaning the shower screen.So we are pleased with our purchase, very easy to fit and has helped reduce spotting.

I thought they'd help my water as l drink a lot of tea boUt lm very disappointed with them l used. Y brad new kettle two weeks or so all lime scale i n the bottom lm very disappointed to say the least But I n favour my water is hard

I bought this product to supplement an electronic water conditioner that couldn't be fitted on the main incoming water main so left the downstairs cold water supply untreated. Simplicity to fit and noticed the water feeling softer/silkier within a couple of days. Within 2 weeks the kettle had begun to descale, the stainless steel sinks were less stained and the water actually tasted better.The water for the upstairs taps and bathrooms are now even softer as a result and the bathrooms stay cleaner longer. The Active 3000 really works and is a real bargain.

I bought a couple of these magnets four months ago and they've really done the business in our house. We live in a hard water area and have always had problems with our kitchen sink tap that uses ceramic cartridges regularly dripping due to calcium build up and the only way around it was by removing and cleaning the cartridges and eventually replacing them more frequently than normal. We also had to descale our kettle every couple of weeks because it furred up so quickly. We first noticed that our tap water and hot drinks tasted much better and then that the kettle wasn't scaling up anywhere near as fast. It's now lasting about 8 weeks instead of two and (fingers crossed ) I've not had to maintain the kitchen tap once since I fitted them. One final thing that we've since noticed is that the wash hand basin taps and our two shower control knobs now turn much easier than they used to although it took 2-3 months before we started to notice this. I was so impressed that I decided to buy four more and fitted one on the washing machine water feed and in other recommended areas. I don't know if more magnets will add to the overall protection but I decided they couldn't do any harm. I note reading the reviews that they haven't worked for everybody but in our case they've really exceeded our expectations.

Does absolutely nothing. Waste of time and money.

I have used this product for two months and nothing...no improvement...zilch...Still gets a couple of stars though, because the manufacturer (Neat Ideas) doesn't make any outlandish claims about the product. They merely say it "can reduce build up of limescale", which is totally different from stating that it actually does. They say that some customers "believe" it makes their water taste better and others "claim" it is good for their plants! (I took these quotes from their website and product video)Bottom line is, I found neither meaningful research or sizeable field studies, to either prove or disprove the effectiveness of magnetic fields in reducing the build up of limescale deposits. On that basis, I thought I would take a £5 punt (or gamble). Okay, so I lost. Doesn't mean the product doesn't work. It just didn't work for me, within my environment, using the water supplied by my local water company (every local area uses differing water sources and additives).It may work for you though. Give it a try! Lots of people stated it works for them in their reviews. So maybe you'll be one of the fortunate ones. Maybe it'll be the solution to your limescale problem. Go on....It's only a fiver...Worst case scenario is that you'll be buying a pair of fridge magnets!

Received on time 24 May. I fitted it to mains supply 15mm pipe where it enters the bungalow. Saturday 25 May late evening noticed that cutlery and glasses rinsed and left to air dry were spotless. Sunday 26 May put load in washing machine which like sink cold taps is fed direct from mains supply. On removing washed items noticed that they felt softer than in past. Also the glass panel in door of washing machine having been wiped over with damp cloth to remove surplus and left to air dry, dried crystal clear. Since then , all clean and sinks clearer. I am more than "very pleased".
