Better than your Average Disk
Ive only begun using this disk. My other one from a different manufacturer fell apart very quickly near the centre and was dangerous/useless after half way thru. This has been very effective without removing steel material and without digging too far into the base after the paint and rust is gone. It does seem kinda smooth and is heating the work piece up if I stay in one area too long. One minor gripe: The chuck that holds the Abrasive Disk is threaded in on a 1/4inch arbor and will loosen if you work with the drill reversed. My other one was pressed on and I could aim dust in any direction by moving around the work piece or changing the direction of the drill. On the plus side this comes with a free 1/4inch arbor and I might be able to put another disk or something in there later on.No reason to give it less than 5stars. I dont expect much from Silverline but this is a cut above the quality I normally get.Update: Has it been four years already? Used this on the Fiat, the lawnmower and a free aluminium greenhouse. It has only worn down halfway. It manages to wear away about as fast as it might get gummed up with paint or soft aluminium oxides. Just right for cleaning of rust and paint with no damage to the healthy metal. Glad I gave it 5 stars.

Works very well on metal/stone/brick
Used to strip paint of metal leaves a clean finish and doesn't take much metal away. Works well for smoothing grind marks outUsed on an old stone window alls removes paint and allows you to put a new smooth surface on the stone. Works well on bricks as well to clean cement or concrete off.Doesn't fit well in a guard so will need to remove until it's worn down a bit.Reasonable wear on flat surfaces. Anything it can catch on though makes it wear down quickly.Would definately recommend for stripping/cleaning bricks though good but of kit.Shop around though as there are better bulk deals about if you have a big job on.

Very effective disc, good value for money.
Used this to strip a metal frame on a wooden trailer. The frame was in bad condition and this disc cleaned off old paint and rust with ease, very quickly to. The disc is totally worn down now, but worth every penny to make such short work of a challenging job. I will be buying another.

Not sure if I should leave a positive or a negative review
I bought 3 of these to strip a large bonnet back to bare metal. They do a good job and make removing paint easy. They don't damage the surface too much and they don't seem to put too much heat into the metal. The first 2 were fine but after a few seconds of using the 3rd one, the nylon stuff disintegrated. It basically came off the backing plate and tore itself into several pieces, one of which belted me in the leg. No serious harm done but it was a bit scary and the disc was scrap. If I use these again I'll be REALLY careful to use all the correct safety gear.

Very good.
Bough this to strip rust and paint from a motorcycle frame and fork legs. Also used it on our garden bench to strip the paint. Excellent. Does the job very effectively but I wouldn't hold it in the same place for long as it will start to remove metal. Great little tool. Used it in my drill.

Helped to remove paint from painted brick wall
I have been burning through quite a lot of these abrasive disks recently whilst trying to remove paint from a brick wall. These ones performed just as well as the branded version (branded same as tool I was using) I was previously using to aid the removal. They last a reasonable length of time, they didn't split or fracture during use and were effective until I had destroyed most of the polycarbide.
