101 Music Games for Children: Fun and Learning with Rhythm and Song (SmartFun Activity Books) Paperback – March 24, 1995

I have always had a hard time finding good substitutes to fill in for me when I take a day off. I bought this book to leave with substitutes that have no musical background and for that purpose it has worked perfectly. The games are described in a very straight forward and comprehend-able fashion; no useless jargon that would go over any one's head. I have also found that many of the games in this book are perfectly suited to teach regular music classroom curriculum. The exercises in it are great and the children love learning new concepts or even reviewing old ones using the games in this book. I highly recommend this book to not just music teachers but to any teacher period.

This book is SO GREAT for teaching music and music themes at home. It works for any number of children, but it is best for a small group of about 3-6. I used it with only one, and it worked ok with some modification. Great variety of games that kids really enjoy playing!

Many good ideas are packed into this little book. Some of the examples of these games are pretty easy to imagine doing, but others were new to me. I hope to use some of them in my teaching very soon (especially some of the games I made cards for).

This book has A LOT of game ideas for a mix of ages elementary- high school. There are some great, fun games and there are some other boring games. Some games require a blindfold, which I wouldn’t ever use. This is a good book for ideas, but I only liked a handful of the games. That’s why I chose only 3 stars.

These games are great for using music to stimulate thinking, planning and connecting with emotional response. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS BOOK if you are looking for ideas around a progressive (building each week on previously learned) music skills education curriculum. It is great for incorporating music, rhythm and sound into everyday teaching environment.

This book is organized really well, with a chart showing which activities are for which ages. It has a lot of great ideas, and its usability is excellent.

What great ideas!! The book offers ideas for activities to keep kids/students interested in music and rhythm! I have finally found a teaching tool to help in my classroom...THANK YOU!!!
