Almost perfect
Got one of these 3 years ago. Been using the fire out of it. So much better than messing with a gas/oil mix chainsaw. However, there is one flaw I've seen, and unfortunately have experienced. The chain break switch is very minimal for this application and breaks easily. Reading through a few of the negative reviews here, you'll find many with the chain brake issues of various types. Replacing the switch is not trivial, as you have to disassemble the saw almost completely. But, beyond that, it is a great saw. I hope Dewalt fixes the chain brake switch in future versions.

Exceeds expectations
Expectations started with an easy-to-use bush trimmer which was lite enough for a woman to use. After one bush trimming, my wife decided it was her saw, and if I wanted to trim something I could order another. Then, a 50' red oak tree didn't make it through a lightning storm and the wind blew it down across the driveway. Never ... never get in the way of a woman that wants to go shopping. It took her 3 hours, plus or minus a few minutes, and the tree was in a pile, in small pieces. Small branches, OK, medium branches, OK, but then the trunk which was thicker than 12 inches remained in her way. I found that in small pieces as well. Angle cut, angle cut, then the remainder got a straight cut. And we have a stack of big logs. She was using the 5ah battery and ran out of juice at the 2 hr and 40 minute mark. Added more oil to the reservoir for chain lubrication as it was getting low, and she finished the job. She is small and lite weight, so the chainsaw being lite weight was good thing. Never expected a tree trunk that was over 16" to be a target of a shopper. It was, and it lost the battle.I pulled it apart and inspected it for wear. None the worse for wear, but decided just-in-case I would get her an extra. The disassembly, cleaning, lubing, and reassembly part got to my work bench. I found it easy to do the necessary usage maintenance to get it ready for her next attach on something too big for a 12" chainsaw. I checked the chain tension to see if it had loosened during use, but it was right where it should be. I asked her about it and I got the perfect answer ... there is a nice knob on the side and every now and then I would check tension, and adjust it. It is easy.Still looks and operates like new.

This little saw is a beast! No kidding.
I have always poopoo'd on electric tools that should be gas motors, but I needed a small chainsaw for about 3 days work, and I already had some dewalt 60v tools and batteries. I bought this with very low expectations, figuring I'd fight my way thru the tree and fence I had to cut up, and be disappointed. Boy was I wrong! This thing punches WAAAY above it's weight class. We had several storms come thru this year that knocked over a lot of trees and fences. One in particular was in my back yard, tree was about 40' tall and 18" thick at the bottom. Fell on my fence, and eventually came to rest on my garage roof. I was reluctant to cut branches away and reduce the integrity of the tree which would fall further thru the fence, eventually toppling the ladder I was up on. Bad situation all around. This little saw is lightweight and spins up fast. Made quick work of the 2-6" branches, even up high at arms length on a ladder. Never felt unsafe at all. Got all the branches down and took the weight off the garage, and started working my way down the tree 18" at a time, as it got thicker and the weight reduced off the fence. The bottom 10 feet or so was 16" or better diameter so I had to swing around the other side to complete the cut but this little saw never once bogged down. It bound up a few times and I had to stop and pull it out a little, but it never once got hot or lost power at all. By the time the tree was in bits, I'd been cutting for at least an hour, and still had half a battery left! People complained about it leaking oil, mine has not. I only add oil when it's near empty, and never leave it stored with more than 1/4 full. Second time I used it I wore out the chain cutting thru boards with nails, taking down the damaged fence, so it got dull fast. I found a 3pk of new chains on here for less than the price of a sharpening kit, so easy peasy 2 minutes later I had a brand new chain that's lasted me thru 3 more trees. I loaned it out a couple days to a friend who asked around to borrow a chainsaw. He laughed when I gave it to him, I told him dude you just wait. He texted me earlier today and said holy smokes I need to get me one of these things! This reminded me I needed to come leave a rave review on here. It's seriously a fantastic tool. Way exceeded my expectations. I'm impressed.
