Does exactly as it says on the box
Bought this router as a temp as contract ended with last provider.Registered my new sim, popped it into my phone for a few mins then it went into the router.I had WiFi the minute the sim registration completed.Setting up is so very simple. The sticker on the back was a bit hard to see but that’s down to my sight more than anything else.I was able to change names and password in next to no time and my devices connected seamlessly. The router itself seems quite sturdy and very lightweight but that doesn’t seem to affect the performance. I get full coverage of my flat and the speeds aren’t as great as a hotspot from my phone but using the antenna provided I was still getting over 100Mbps. I’ve only streamed for a few hours but there has been no buffering or any lagging. For the price paid, this has exceeded my expectations and could possibly become a permanent router if my experience so far is anything to go by.

AX5400 BOUGHT TO REPLACE POOR VIRGIN HUB 4
I bought the AX5400 (AX73) because our Virgin hub 4 was terrible for wifi and because this looked a mean piece of kit with all it's antennas! We just switched the Virgin hub into "modem mode" and connected one cat8 network cable from it into the new AX5400. (Any cat5, cat6, etc cable is fine)Turned it on, logged into it, and it basically set itself up! VERY easy to get going.I now have wifi coverage across the entire house, which is a 4bed terrace with an extension. Before, we would lose all wifi in the furthest upstairs rooms and the extension so this is a significant improvement. We have a LOT of devices on our wifi, mamy phones, tablets, games consoles and amazon echo dots and all these are working flawlessly and with minimal effort. The AX5400 is definately the model to go for, don't bother with the lower models on this listing - it's definately worth paying that little extra to get this top model. It's very well ventilated and the lower models people complain get too hot or fail. There's no concerns with this one. I would recommend periodically wiping it for dust though because there are a LOT of tiny vent holes that look like they'd be more than happy to fill up with dust. But i'm quite happy to wipe it over from time to time.My speedtest results were pleasing.I went from 240-500MB/sec to results of upto 740MB/sec checked over a lan cabled computer on our 500MB/sec Virgin Fibre line so this was definately an improvement.Virgin hubs are terrible, they drop wifi connections, have pauses and lag delays when many devices are connected, and the range is terrible. The AX5400 is an easy solution. Definately consider one!

Solid router but firmware update doesnt work via app
I'm on virgin media, they gave me the hub 3 which is absolutely terrible. The wifi kept disconnecting. I complained and they sent me another hub 3 which was just as bad - the wifi kept dropping and I'd have to turn my wifi on and off and put up with stuttering MS teams calls. I suspected it was the wifi signal so I bought this. Setup was reasonably straight forward although the app is kinda basic. You have to put the virgin media hub into modem mode and then connect it to this router and then restart the virgin media hub otherwise it wont work - theres a youtube video on it basically if you search virgin media modem mode - its not the top one but theres one with a guy explaining you need to reset the modem in the correct order. I followed the app and after a little fiddling it worked and the connection has been solid non-stop. No more signal drops, no more MS teams issues. The ONLY criticism is the app on my phone doesnt seem to update the firmware even though it says it does. You begin an update, it completes and then it says the firmware is still outdated and hasn't been applied. It doesnt really make sense.

Versatile and easy to use - with free companion mobile app
Positives:* It works as advertised* Its UI is clear, super responsive, easy to use and informative.* Packed with a host of featuresNegatives:* None so farI replaced my internet provider's own-brand router (Virgin Media Hub 3.0) with this. I put the Hub 3.0 into 'modem mode' and connected this via ethernet cable and got it sorted pretty quick with the setup feature of the router. This product boasts a lot of additional features and they're all very easy to setup and work as advertised. For example, it can easily setup 3 separate WIFI networks for you, your main network, a guest network, and a IoT network (for your smart home devices) to keep everything separate and stop any compromised guest/smart devices from allowing anyone access to your main devices. There is also the 'tether' app you can download or free and link to the router to manage it from the mobile app. If you create an EasyMesh network (using other TP-Link wifi extenders that support EasyMesh) it can also manage the extender devices! Its got a lot of easy to use extra features such as per-device speed limits, setting priority devices, access point mode, as well as all the usual router config stuff.
