Doveet Atomic Clock Excellent

I decided to replace my "Skyscan" atomic clocks because 1) these Doveets have much larger digits 2) They can support up to 3 external weather monitors 3) They also give you humidity. Now the review. I purposely didn't set the time when I got them (I bought 3 for different locations and to get 3 external monitors) to see if they set @ 2am (pdt) like most atomic clocks. They do. So out of the box I read that you should put batteries in the monitor(s) before the clocks. The battery doors on all 3 monitors are very tight, but I was able to pry them off. Each monitor requires 2 AAA batteries (the clocks require 4 AA batteries). Inside each monitor, above the batteries, is a switch with 3 positions (labeled 1, 2, 3). Since I bought 3 clocks with 3 monitors, I set each monitor to a different setting. Then I put the AAs into the clocks (these panels were easy to open). All 3 turned on right away (am 12:00). They also showed both internal and external temperatures ( in 1/10 of a degree) and humidity (in whole %). On the back of the clock are 5 buttons: set, alarm, (^)zone, (v)rcc, and channel. Set is if you want to set the clock before it gets the atomic signal (you use the up/down arrows to set I assume, but since I didn't set them I'm not positive). I also think this is where you can set 24 hour display or the 12 hour am/pm display, the am/pm was the default out of the box. Alarm is useless to me since I'm mounting them on the wall (I suppose if you were planning on putting it on your desk it might be useful. But it seems kinda large to put on a desk, even though it does have a kickstand for doing so). The zone button toggles 5 different time zones, the 3 in the continental US plus Alaska and Hawaii. I think the RCC button is used to tell the clock to look for the atomic signal right away, but I pressed it to toggle between C° & F°. The last button is for the outside temperature monitor. It toggles the clock through 1, 2, 3 (matching the setting inside the monitor), rotate (meaning constantly changing which monitor the clock displays. It changes once every 3 seconds. Very useful if you do want to have different areas monitored. You could also use a monitor inside your fridge or inside another room). Displayed is AM or PM (if you have it set for it. Time with seconds & time zone, inside temperature & humidity, month & date & day of week, outside temperature & humidity. On each temperature there is a little house to its left, the inside temperature has "IN" inside it while the outside temperature house has a 1 or 2 or 3 (or rotates between the 3). The only downside is that the frame of the clock is plastic, don't get me wrong it looks OK (gloss black), it just doesn't feel super durable (meaning don't drop it). One last thought for anyone who might buy this (or any other battery operated wall clock) pay extra and use Eveready Lithium batteries instead of alkaline or manganese batteries (like Duracell or any other brand). There are 2 reasons 1) they last longer (although this is unimportant as I believe most batteries will last over a couple of years), and 2) (This is the important reason) Eveready lithium batteries DO NOT leak, EVER. If you leave regular batteries in the clock (or monitor) for years at a time (which you will do), there is a fair chance they will leak before you need to change them (I've had batteries leak in an older clock while the clock was still running due to the low power requirements of clocks in general). It is well worth spending an extra $6 on batteries to make sure there is no corrosion that will make you buy another $60 clock (which will probably be remodeled by then so your clocks won't match if that matters to you). Hope this helps anyone interested in this Doveet Atomic clock. I wholly recommend it.I now have an update. After 10 days one of the 3 clocks has an error. For some unknown reason the clock reset its time and date. The date reset to 4/1 and the time went off by 54 minutes. It did not receive the atomic signal for 2 days, so I removed it from the wall and put it in the same room as one of the working clocks. After 2 more days, I decided to manually set it (but still leave it in that room to see if it would get the signal. It did After another day). Everything was fine for a day. Today (4/15) another odd thing happened, the date and day of the week "lost" a day and it now says 4/14 (the time is still synced to the second) and the atomic symbol is still displayed (it had been missing when the time and date went out of sync earlier). I will wait until tomorrow to see if it re-syncs (I've found that most atomic clocks seem to get their signal @ 2am). 4/16 in the am, the time and date were both correct.

DOVEET tech improvement comparing 6 year old MARATHON

Only had about a week but all seems great.First off appears most all of these clock small or large have a loud BEEP. For alarm but also for every press of a button. Well had to open up and disable (for now) the buzzer. Not using the alarm anyway!Unit has a slim bezel, large seconds, large date numbers, battery placement in center with small flip downs for desk or table. The temp and humidity displays for inside and outside are clear enough. No problem auto setting with the atomic signal. As compared to my very good 6 year old Marathon unit with two large circuit boards this Doveet only has one small circuit board. That's some technical improvements.Hopefully this will perform for at least 15 years like some other clocks including some of the 1st.Radio Shack clocks I have. They are all very reliable! So I had to update this after really loving all it's features. The one thing that this unit seem to not be able to do is to disable the time signal reception at the 1am to 5am on the hour auto search. After investigating the LFF clock I found that it has an RCC ON/OFF function with the SET button. This will stop any auto setting so if the clock has a hard time getting a strong signal in a certain location the search is deactivated saving battery power. Once put in a high signal location then you can turn the RCC back ON. If the DOVEET clock had that feature I would keep it. So I have decided to keep the LFF for that reason. Sadly I will miss this DOVEET clock because I liked the overall display more! 😂

Great clock for vision impaired folks!

The large size of the numbers on this clock make seeing it very easy - especially for vision impaired people. It was simple to set up and the outdoor remote started working immediately. The only thing I wish this clock had is a backlight in it. We found at night you need light to view the smaller info (temperatures/humidity on the bottom section) so we placed a floor lamp near it which fixed the issue. This is one of the few clocks that is cordless (battery operated) yet provides dual indoor/outdoor temps and humidity readings and appears to be quite accurate. I am very happy with this purchase but oh how perfect it would be with a backlight.

Perfect for my Ham Shack or Office - See updates

Update! Again Feb 23,2025, it jumped 2 hours in time. It is getting to be a real pain pulling off the wall and correcting.Update! Since I purchased this clock it has twice jumped one hour over night. I'm not sure what is causing this to happen but has done it twice. It is great for my Ham Shack/office and perfect size to see well during daylight. It is not lighted which what I was looking for to replace the old school house type clock.

Outside Transmitter Rarely Works as Described.

The outdoor transmitter for this expensive wall clock does not function properly. It cuts out for days on end. Changing the batteries, reconnecting with the clock, multiple times doesn't help. This product is a HUGE disappointment. And the company doesn't care. A rip off.

It's big

This wall clock weather station is nice and big. I wish they had split the time and temperature sizes a little more evenly tho. Could have made the temperature ones a little bigger. But you can surely see the time well. Also, it takes a while for it to start showing correct temperature and humidities, i mean like a few hours. But it finally started showing correctly. It is a nice wall clock and temperature apparatus.
