It Works

I am just an electronic hobbyist and don't have a massive budget for buying test equipment. I have needed an inexpensive signal generator for my workbench. When I saw this one on Amazon, I decided to purchase it. I was expecting a cheap "knock-off" but one that would fill my needs as a hobbyist. I was correct in all respects. It was cheat and it was more than likely a "knock-off" of a more expensive unit, but to my surprise and delight it turned out to be a real powerhouse. Functionally I can generate just about any waveform there is, along some of my own making. As near as I can tell, the accuracy is "spot-on" and it has functions that I would only expect to get in a more expensive unit. The Documation is not bad for something coming out of China though its' operation is pretty much intuitive. Great buy.

Nice machine. Easy to use.

I am using this to generate signals at specific frequencies with any of several waveshapes. I also use it to measure frequency of externally generated frequencies. It is quick and easy to use. Dual channel certainly helps. HOWEVER - when I measure the output of my precision 10 MHz frequency standard, I find an error in that the Seesi counter indicates a frequency about 12 cycles high. My standard is precise to e1x10-12 so I know the error is in the Seesi. That is not much error and is probably adequate for most uses. The claimed precision is 0.1%. so this is well within the stated precision.

Where has this been all my life?

I purchased this unit after scouring online videos on signal generators, and decided on this model.I'll start with the negatives, because that list is pretty short.Negatives:1. Weight. This unit is so light that it resists no pressure on the front display without sliding backwards on your bench, basically necessitating two hand usage OR it needs to either be secured down to your workbench or slid back so that it is touching the back wall - the last option is what I have done.2. Button presses often require multiple inputs: This is a bit of a nit to pick, but some of the button presses do not positively change the mode or option being selected, and multiple presses are required. The unit provides a beep indicating that the inputs are received (it's not the button failing), but the mode or option does not change. This happens a lot with frequency wave form changes.3. User interface is a little funky, but okay. Front panel real estate size is the bane of user interfaces. This unit maximizes its demure size, making certain operations a little tedious, such as dialing-in high frequencies ... to enter something like 853,123,150 Hz the fastest way to do that is to move the cursor to each numeric position and then dial the number wanted. The cursor left/right buttons are easy enough to reach, but it requires a lot of back-and-forth movement when using one hand. A feature like press-turn of the rotary encoder, to move the cursor, would be a much appreciated improvement.Positives (and some of these are general to Freq. Generators):1. The price for the features and performance is kind of unbeatable.2. Measure function works extremely well for testing transceiver output across many frequencies. I have relied on this capability heavily while testing a transceiver that I built. My O-scope could provide similar functionality, but the quick-enough performance and clean read-out on this unit make it my go-to for this need.3. The calibration of the unit is good. Validating frequency output with an O-scope shows a +/- tolerance of .01 Hz across the range of the unit, for me.4. I have effectively used this unit as a low amperage PWM power supply for testing small electronics.5. I have effectively used the unit to simulate an oscillator to test to see if a crystal had failed. There is a lot more that does not come to mind. This generator has become an invaluable addition to my workbench. I would buy it again.

Wildly inaccurate

I thought this would be a nice little addition to my bench. I was wrong. First off, it's extremely lightweight and slides around at the slightest touch. Second, and most importantly, it's wildly inaccurate. I double checked it against my Rigol scope. 5khz sine @ 2v attentuation. While the frequency was accurate the voltage swung from 1.2 to 2.2 volts. At 500mV, my scope could barely lock on to it, that's how bad it is. It's useless for any work where you need precision. Avoid.

You get what you pay for

I am just a broke college student so this is all I can afford and i think that it will server me well for a years at least but. however I do have a few complaints even though I know this is just a cheapy ill still share my complaints. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet but my first and only user complaint is that the square wave is very peaky and ripplily. but that's kind of expected for this price if you really can't have those peaks in your circuit pick your voltage ahead of time and use Zener's. then I have a construction complaint. the soldering seems mostly good espillaly on the main board but on the front panel board the rotary encoder and the main power button had a but of flux and gunk on them i dont have photos as I already cleaned it but trust me they were there and if you buy this you may want to do the same. and my biggest complaint, design. why are all the part numbers lasered off? there is no good reason to do it. only reason is that they are lying about the specs of the device and dont want you to find out. but I mean every chip is lasered not just the main one all these op amps and transistors no part numbers, i mean how do I replace the part if it fails? terrible practice and quite sketchy wouldn't stop me from buying it if i had known but I'd be much more happy if this was not the case. also they use self taping screws. no surprise but itd be nice if it had metal threaded inserts.

Great generatorI

I only needed an audio generator to test my hearing aids and to setup my graphic equalizer. This turned out to be more than I needed. It is well built and easy to operate. I went thru several of the menus and will probably use many of them. I am very satisfied and would certainly purchase it again.

Great product

I have bought a ton of these over the years for special projects, and they are very dependable. Only once did I get one where the power adapter didn't work. Highly recommended
