works great. this is the 3 filter that i tried and this one is the best. the other said compatible with the xwfe but they were not. the "E" has a chip this is needed and will for work with you the chip. had it in one day. very easy to install. you do need to run a couple of cups of water thru to get the charcoal and water bubbles out and the water pressure will return. fits prefect. may cost a few cents more but the value is worth it. the others caused error messages and stoped the water.

Generally speaking I think water filters are a waste of money and a con game. However since we have to have them in today’s world these filters are the best I have used. I’ve used filters for three other refrigerators recently (another story) and I find these to be the best. Price is within range of similar products which are all priced ridiculously expensive. I spend more money on filters in a year than toothpaste.

Make sure you order the GE XWFE filter. The generic doesn't work. This filter saves our plastic waste.

I bought this because I don't like buying knock off brands, and having unexpected results. The filter fit perfectly, and popped right in. I went to fill a pitcher to dump the first gallon or so, and a LOT of black chunks came out of the water line. The water flow is noticeably slower, which is kind of annoying when filling up a larger container. For the cost, I feel like I might as well have went with a knock off brand, probably will for the next filter and see how I like it. After all the flushing, water tastes fine, and looks normal, so I think it's working as its supposed to, just was a bit odd to see so much stuff coming out initially. Some looked like straight up bark chips, very confusing as it is an 8 month old fridge and this was the first filter installed after OEM.
