Europe GPS Map 2025 for Garmin Devices on microSD

We purchased the 2024 Euro maps and a Garmin SmartDrive 76 for a month-long driving trip from Nice, France to Lisbon, Portugal, along the Mediterranean. The combination worked well until after we reached Barcelona. Our next destination was Valencia and we began to have trouble with the Garmin finding a route to Valencia. The Garmin Drive app could find the destination, send it to the SmartDrive, but the SmartDrive could not find a way to get there. We drove randomly to a major highway and tried again successfully. Our next destination was Cartagena. The Garmin system consistently errored to “cannot calculate route”. No matter how far we wondered the Garmin system could not take us to even a general “Cartagena, Spain”. We had to use the rental car system combined with a paper map. Once leaving Cartagena, the Garmin continued to error finding a route to Malaga or Sevilla. We gave up using the Garmin. Packed it away, connected to the car with Apple CarPlay, and navigated the remainder of the trip, error free, with W**ze. We had high hopes for the Garmin device and phone app system but it is not ready for Europe.

Seems good so far

I could immediately see using the program Basecamp that there were gaps in the map coverage for Europe in this map set. After working with the seller, I was provided a download to refresh the map set; however, I could still see gaps in the coverage. Since the gaps seemingly would not affect our trip to Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica, we decided to use it. Big mistake! The coverage in all three locations was outdated: wrong highway designators, wrong roads, wrong one-ways. roads that did not exist, highways that should have existed, and the best, roads that were actually dry and wet streambeds almost impassable. We got horribly lost on many occasions using this map set and ultimately had to rely on Google Maps where we had cell coverage to navigate us out of trouble. Recently purchased most updated Europe map set directly from Garmin, and its clearly different. Use at your own peril.

A after market product. Not from Garmin. Not accurate at all. Of course when you are in Europe not much ya can do. Very disappointing.

Although maps of Italy were on this, details down to street addresses and names were lacking. I tried to put in the address of my hotels, but a few of them would not show up or I got a no address message. I had to do a few work arounds to find places I was wanting to go to using the navigation. At one point, only a major highway was showing but nothing else. I had to pull over to make sure I was still on the correct track. I am not sure if these issues exist for other countries in Europe or just Italy.

Will come in handy for our car tour of the UK

Inserted chip in Nuvi and checked the selection boxes in map list for Europe. Got to Europe, took Garmin sometime to locate satellites, and our location in Milan displayed, but when we searched for Pisa, "location not found". It didn't seem like it could find anything. It did find "Tower of Pisa", routed and was avoiding toll roads (we think) but the general search function failure made chip unusable. We used GoogleMaps and didn't have any problem getting from Milan to Montecatini Termi to Pisa and back again.
