A powerful and intelligent book about TRE
I am a TRE provider and this book was just what I wanted and needed to learn more about TRE, both professionally and personally. The various chapters, by quite a few different authors, cover many aspects of shaking, neurobiology, trauma recovery as well as how practioners around the world are using TRE to help their clients.I agree that the prof reading could have been better as many of the writers are not native English speakers and spell check butchered a few sentences now and then, however that seems trivial compared to the brilliant writing presented. This is not the usual fluff found in many so called self help books but a seriously intelligent book. Some of the chapters are easy to read while others quite challenging for those of us without a medical or science background. The beginning of the book is more difficult. I recommend skipping around. This book might not be the best place to start, Youtube has many free videos for those completely new to TRE, trauma recovery or shaking medicine. A Youtube video was how I first became interested almost three years ago. There is so much to learn! This isn't to say that someone new to TRE couldn't benifit from reading this book.

A great book and toolkit for every-body
Dr Berceli’s work is amazing and has changed my life as well as the lives of tens of thousands of military veterans and trauma survivors around the world, as well as given others the tools and understandings they needed in order to prevent themselves from becoming traumatized or stuck in that state. I regularly give this book to my clients and teach them it’s basic tools and practices as it makes my work with them that much easier. It’s self-empowerment through self-awareness, and that power brings the confidence needed to let go and yield to all kinds of innate healing and intuition that we resist due to our need to control. A need we carry due to a lack of trust that we have what it takes to take care of ourselves and overcome our pain. We have externalized so much of our own power and authority, Dr Berceli, TRE, this book lets you know how much of that power can never really be given away, just made dormant as we subject ourselves to the otherness our culture hold up as the ultimate authority, without which we have learned to see ourselves as inert, only to be acted upon. Shake it off teaches you, through it’s exercises, that you have what it takes to not only “deal” but to overcome and flourish in the face of trauma, pain, stress, and whatever else confronts your search for meaning, freedom, happiness, intimacy, and any other pursuit towards a fullness of being. Enjoy and share with those in need.

Chronic pain relief and feeling better
In the interest of full disclosure, I am an unpaid co-author of one brief chapter in this book. I stumbled into TRE® about 7 years ago, and I enjoy using it periodically as a quick and reliable stress management tool to restore balance and positve energy.I have also, with many others, volunteered hundreds of unpaid hours to help TRE become evidenced based in the medical community. My review is about what I learned from the rest of the book that I didn't understand before; I gave it five stars, because I see TRE as a valuable and affordable public health tool. I found the book especially interesting because of TRE's potential to help relieve chronic pain. Most of us have heard the expression "shake it off". We are taught we can shake it off; it is built into our culture. Aside from using will power, there has been little explanation of how one can shake off distress. The book offers insight on how TRE is being used around the world to shake off distress from many issues. It also explains why the TRE tremor/gentle shaking mechanism seems to allow people feel better and safer without a lot of effort.

Reducing stress
This is an interesting technique that I discovered while watching a series of mental health therapies earlier this year. On learning of it, I remembered seeing animals (most recently a friend's poodle on the way to the groomer) tremble as a means of reducing stress. I've seen animals in the wild do this, too, in documentaries: for example, a zebra that just escaped attack by crocodile... I've not mastered the technique, but definitely intend to!

Reduce stress/ shake it off!
Theory, Understanding and Practice. This is an excellent read both for those who have practiced TRE and those new to the concept. For those who have heard about the Tension/Trauma Releasing Exercises and for those curious to know more. For those who are teaching TRE and those wanting to deepen their knowledge base. And great for all us who want to lessen the stress and anxiety in our daily lives. A helpful primer for understanding both the concepts for using TRE in your healing practices. Many interesting examples of how these shaking exercises are being used throughout the world. Glad I bought the book and will recommend to both my clients and friends --

Finally a masterpiece from a "doer" and not a "talker"
It took only 6 hours to devour the most illuminating book on trauma, shock, and stress ever written. It was masterful for Dr Berceli to seek the wisdom and experience of others to compile a foundational text for both practitioners and the public on how to really treat, heal and master the devastating effects of pain, shock, angst, and trauma. Easy to read, easy to understand and eminently destined to stand as a healing modality for the masters who acknowledge that we have a body that remembers and can release and heal us. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It is an 15 stars easily!

More ways to understand TRE
This is a great follow up to David Berceli's other books on TRE. In the previous 2 books he gives technical info on how the tremors work in relieving stress and tension. In this book we get to see how people all over the world are putting TRE into practice, how they understand and use the technique coming from varied backgrounds, both culturally and professionally. Quite an interesting and courageous method of presenting your work, that is to have others write about it and report their findings
