Cheap, effective (also works on Mac!)
I was looking for a cheap USB to DMX interface and bought this as a test. I can say that as of my first few uses it has worked flawlessly. How robust it is in the long term remains to be seen, but if you treat it well it should last a while! There is nothing here about the interface working on a mac but I can confirm that it (as usual with a mac) just works - no need for driver disks etc, it just works. It appears in QLC+ as a uDMX output.Very happy.

Didn't work with QLC+, bite the bullet and buy a more expensive bit of kit!
I bought this as I wanted to get into DMX lighting and had been playing around with QLC+, however when this cable arrived it didn't work on either Mac or Windows. After a short google I found drivers that would supposedly make it work, but still to no avail. The cable itself feels cheaply made and I plugged it into one of my DMX cables to test if the cable was worked, however when trying to then disconnect the cable it wouldn't come lose, I ended up having to prise it out of the other DMX cable ruining both, am extremely thankful I didn't try to plug it directly into one of my lights!I have now bitten the bullet and bought a more expensive alternative than this, and that is what I would recommend to others who are also wanting to get into DMX, the new bit of kit works seamlessly with my software on both Mac and Windows. I just wish that I could have saved myself the money on this and bought it first! The cable may work for you but I wouldn't personally risk it, after it not working and then getting stuck!

Good For he Money
For the price this interface is very good. At £17 I didn't expect much but it works adequately. Having to disable software signing to get the software to install is not ideal but it works. What should be made clear and unfortunately is not in the manual or software, is when you setup Freestyler, uDMX must be selected as the interface NOT USB-DMX512 as it reads on the dongle. This is a common and easy mistake to make as it says USB-DMX512 in the interface list in Freestyler but you are not told to select uDMX instead, Hope this helps.

Love it. So simple and easy to install
Was skeptical about this working. But was very happy eith how easy it was to install and get working. You need to install the drivers off the disk supplied, then it just worked. I first tried it in freestyler, worked great. But i dont like freestyler so searched for other dmx software. I found QLC+ that also worked just fine. Still on the hunt for dmx software I like. But i have had not problems at all with this controller. BTW it's a uDMX clone. If you find software that works with uDMX Then you should have no problems.

Good, once you've done some tweaking
I'm using this with QLC+ on a Hackintosh. At first the output was very choppy with some dropouts.I found that QLC+ was running at 50Hz and the Lixada adaptor was running at 30Hz which O assumed was causing these issues. It's possible to adjust the preference files to change the various clock speeds.Read about it here: [...]After adjusting the speeds to 25, then 20Hz things improved markedly.I read here:[...]that there are better speed worth trying, so in the end I settled on 18Hz.It seems to be OK...Still a little choppy on crossfades between colours, but the LED lights I am using are very cheap, so perhaps that's the culprit.

A waste of 2 days effort.
I wasted two days trying to get a basic 8 dmx fixture set up to work. I tried installing the software on 2 laptops, one running windows 8 and the 2nd running windows 10 pro. I managed to disable the driver checking and install the drivers as advised in other reviews. The usb adaptor kept dropping the connection and locking up. I couldn’t rely on the interface to run a show on halloween night so i bought an american DJ my DMX buddy and my prayers were answered. I'd got a working set up. I can't comment on the freestyler software as this is a free download anyway. The lixada usb/dmx interface is sold in many guises on amazon, all generic by the looks of things with a different sticker on them. My advice to you, spend a few pounds more and save yourself a lot of disappointment.

Perfect little device for using open source PC DMX control ...
Perfect little device for using open source PC DMX control programs to get a DMX output for fixtures. Made great use of it making my own usb dmx api style library in python. Very powerful.

Waste of time.
Absolute waste of time. You'll spend more time fighting to get this working, downloading dodgy software and turning off firewalls than you will ever spend actually using it. In this case, cheap and not cheerful.
