Literally smashing
Great invention. My husband already bought me one as a gift, so obviously when it was his birthday I bought him this one so we don't have to fight over it. Would totally recommend this for egg-lovers, but would not recommend using it to thwack a person's forehead. To be clear, I haven't actually tried this but I expect it would hurt quite a lot.

Works ok.
Gimmicky but I like it. Nice clean cut shells. No bits of broken shell to be picked out of the egg! My wife just shakes her head and looks to the ceiling 🙄.

PRACTICAL
Easy way to crack open a boiled egg.It creates large enough opening for my teaspoon.

Useless- do not buy
When I used it as per instructions the egg was splattered across the table - only really worked with almost hard boiled egg . I returned it !Amazon return policy is excellent£

I'm not disappointed I bought it, but.....
.....the first time I used it, I did so at full spring, and the whole shell was smashed - very messy! So there should be a warning about this! "Start with a short pull-up and work up to what suits your egg best" for example. So far by trial and error doing OK, but it's not as magical as the adverts led me to believe - a moderate pull cuts the shell but I still need a knife to cut off the top. Maybe I'll get the knack, eg., moderate pull up and not too soft an egg, perhaps. Also seems to work better on the rounded rather than the pointed end of the egg. It's already better than using a tea spoon either to cut into the shell or to break up the top of the shell and pick off the pieces.

Love this!
I bought one of these for myself a couple of years ago and have since bought it as a stocking filler for several people who all say they love it!So easy to use. Just place it over the egg, pull the spring-loaded ball up and release. It fires back down and the shock cracks the egg around the edge of the domed section. I use this at least once per week and it is still working well after a couple of years. The little spoon that comes with it is pretty useless, but don't let that put you off.

It makes opening eggs easier
Eventually it will put a ring around your egg in which you can then get a spoon and scoop it to form a perfect circle, which is better than the old cracking option. So, it doesn’t work as I expected it to but it does make it easier, I think if you have eggs often then it’s worth getting, if not then don’t bother as it doesn’t work as effectively as it appears.

It is our use of tools that gives this crafty ape dominion over all the beasts of the field.
Having foolishly purchased a cheaper one of these a couple of weeks ago only to have it then dramatically fly to bits after topping just a few dozen eggs, I was left somewhat lost at breakfast time. I love dippy eggs and thought I had finally found the solution to opening boiled eggs cleanly and easily. I carried on for a couple of days bashing open boiled eggs with a spoon like a common ape smashing its way in to a nut or something before i broke down and decided that four million years of evolution and development of opposable thumbs should be put to higher purpose than to struggle to open eggs so i ordered this topper and paid a little more this time, having gotten the hang of the other one (put the eggs back in the box and just ping the tops of each one before you transfer them to the egg cup) I expected the same effect but was delighted to find this tool hit harder and cut a clean smooth line right around the egg and was far superior to the other topper that was just not as good as this one. So my advice is spend a little more and just enjoy your breakfast like the modern human you are and employ the right tools for the right job. We owe evolution that much at least. Peace out and be lucky.
