Almost sent them back! Glad I figured out the simple issue.
I've always liked Sengled Zigbee products; bought a few of their smart bulbs and they paired immediately and have never dropped since. But I almost returned these as I thought they were DOA. No activity on the LED when I pulled out the battery protector tape on EITHER of them. Turns out the protection tape is scored and separated into two pieces, with one piece remaining in the battery holder preventing contact. Didn't even see it when I pulled out the battery to test it and then noticed it was still in place when I was putting the battery back in. Removing it with a pair of tweezers got it powered up and pairing went fine.It looks like the tape is pre-scored and I can't imagine you'd be able to pull it out WITHOUT tearing it and leaving the piece behind. It's a bad design that Sengled should fix and that's why I gave the install only 4 stars instead of 5.The other thing I didn't care for is that the LED indicator does not blink when you open/close the circuit. Every other door/window sensor I've had (Zigbee & ZWave) has this feature and I kind of miss it a bit. Not sure if this is something that can be configured but it also isn't a big deal for me. Reliability and low latency are way more important to me and both of these sensors are awesome in those respects - and this is just after installing; I imagine they'll respond even quicker after they get a chance to build the mesh.Very happy with my purchase, even with the exceptions noted above. At the price, I will probably be replacing more of my older ZWave door/window sensors with these ones. They're just the right size and give you plenty of mounting options. Keeping these on my droplist and waiting for a price drop to buy more!

Great For Starter Smart Home anywhere
SENGLED SMART WINDOW & DOOR SENSORS:-affordable-easy to set up-user-friendly-seamless design-Compete with the big brands such as smartthings and PhillipsSet a routine with your Alexa to tell you when your windows or doors are open or if they’re open for sometime to remind you that they’re still open and needs to be closedThis brand on a whole is awesome. I live in jamaica And I started to create a smart home project within my own home one of the things that bothered me was that when I did the exchange rate some of the smart home devices were so expensiveHowever SENGLED offered an affordable way to build my smart home with easy to set up Bulbs, sensors and so forth. In the Caribbean or Wi-Fi can be a little bit intermittent but Sengled somehow has been able to work with my Wi-Fi system here on the islands. The sensor is easy to set up ....but it must be used with a hub ....my suggestion is you go with a bundle package from SENGLED to get the hub with a bulb to start your smart home setupOnce you have the hub you’re able to connectover 100 other devices onto that hubThey’re a growing company and as such I am happy to continue to grow in my smart home with themI’m looking forward for them to have motion sensors and cameras, door locks, garage door opener and everything else a smart home may need

Good functionality, high maintenance
Bought several of them, integrated w/Home Assistant. Works nicely for the price range though, after an year of usnig, high maintenance due to the low reliablity has become obvious.GOODs: Price point. Zigbee response is smooth.BAD1: Report for the remaining battery level is unreliable. Almost all devices of this kind I have reported in the same manner i.e. a certain value for 2+ weeks at some point (say 51%, 40%, somewhere lower but not super now), then one day suddenly goes "unavailable".BAD2: With my hands, removing a battery is too difficult, cannot be done w/o a small tool.

Not worth it the trouble.
I was super excited about these. I asked for them for valentines day. I like the idea of having an alert that goes off when the door is open now that all my kids can reach the deadbolt. And for only $25?! That's peace of mind at a steal. When we got the box, it wasnt sealed and one of the adhesives was missing, and on that same sensor, the tab had already been pulled. So my thought is we recieved someone else's return. But who knows! So I set em up, find some command hook strips to act as an adhesive and they are golden. The alexa app is telling me that they are opened or closed accurately. I can even ask her and she knows. Awesome. So I try to set up a routine so that at certain times of night, if a kid sneaks the front door open, it turns on all the lights in my room. Simple. Yeah? No. Unfortunately, these do not trigger routines. You can set a routine to be triggered by them, but they wont do it. It's like there is a communication error between the two. I tried several things. Even just triggering a robot to say "door open", without all the fanciness. So I go on here to read questions and reviews, after already uninstalling and reinstalling the sengled and alexa apps, deleting the devices, re-discovering them. All that jazz. I see a couple reviews saying that they've stopped triggering routines. Leading me to wonder, again, if we really did get someone else's return. So who knows. So yeah, they're small, compact, they're easy to install, given you get all of the correct pieces with their adhesive still attached, and you can see on the alexa app if the door is open or closed. But dont plan on doing very much with these. Not worth the frustration.
