Q: I am really interested in this cpap cleaner. some of the reviews are scary. any input?

I can't speak to other reviews, but I'll give you my 2 cents. I've been on CPAP / APAP therapy for nearly 20 years, and am on my 3rd machine, a ResMed S-9. I think this SoCLean 2 is great. I've had the SoClean 2 CPAP cleaner for two years. I like it. I guess some folks don't like the smell of the ozone that is used to sterilize the mask, hose and water tank, but it doesn't bother me, in fact I like it. I don't usually clean my mask in the cleaner, I just do that by hand with some liquid Ivory hand soap I still have on hand. I found if you clean the whole headgear and mask set up in the cleaner, it causes the mask to deteriorate more quickly than I think it should - you can tell when the mask starts to turn yellowish that it needs to be replaced. I don't use the SoClean 2 every day, more like 2 - 3 times a week, and that seems good. Definitely good to know that the bacteria, mold and viruses are killed by the ozone treatment. This machine, coupled with regular cleaning of the tank and mask, should help you be more relaxed about your therapy. Breathing is a pretty important thing - breathing clean air is pretty important too.

Q: how often do you change the cartridge ?

Soclean says to change the cartridge every six (6) months. Also the machine will give a .message when it is time to order new cartridge

Q: For the ResMed 10 do you have to dump the distilled water reservoir every time you clean the system?

I don’t, the SoClean pushes the ozone into the water initially to start the circulation of the disinfectant. Without the device I would notice the reservoir needed cleaning every few days. I clean it out weekly.

Q: where are the filters made?

The SoClean 2 Filter Kits are made in China.
