Great little thing! A little cheap, a little poorly engineered, but it's $15.

So all of the other comments on this thing are valid - it's a bit cheaply made, and the switches/pot knob being perpendicular to eachother doesn't make much sense, but I can only assume it was a BOM thing. Maybe they had a million of the little switches on hand. Whatever. Again, it's $15.I desoldered the switches on mine to panel mount the little thing, and it worked great. Just soldered little patch wires to the traces on the board and then to my panel switches, then mounted the unit. It does exactly what it says it does. There's no wiring directions in the box unless you can read mandarin on the board, but the pictures on the listing show a correct wiring diagram.A+. Same price as a similar little thing I purchased on Amazon before this, but actually works and is better than I thought it would be. It's not their fault if you don't know how to wire up a stepper driver/controller.

Good Stepper Test Module

The media could not be loaded. I sometimes order several stepper motors for later use and needed something to evaluate them on receipt to make sure they worked properly before the return window expired. This little analog controller works perfectly for that. Setup and connections are simple although the manufacturer has not done a very good job of explaining them. There are several other Amazon reviews available that provide much better descriptions. Essentially you just need to connect the pulse, direction and enable pins from the controller to the same pins on the driver. All three of the corresponding ground pins on the driver, plus the driver motor power pin and the controller ground all go to power supply ground (using 12 V here). For 4 wire motors connect the A and B pairs as indicated (paired wires can be identified by no resistance between them). Connect power supply positive to the 12V controller pin and to the driver motor input and you’re done. This controller can handle larger voltage input on the other connector if you want. Higher voltage input is generally no problem with steppers but you must be sure to limit amps as needed with the dip setting on the driver. The short video shows control of a small NEMA 11 linear drive. I used a micro step setting of 1 and limited the amps to 0.5 on the driver. Now I can just connect a new stepper to the controller and confirm proper operation. The controller works exactly as claimed including the frequency output ranges. The default middle range is fine for small stepper control. This controller is a good product although I deducted 1 star for the very poor documentation.

This is amazing

This rescued my life. It works very well, and you can easily adjust the speed of the stepper motor. You can easily increase the speed of the stepper motor from 40 rpm to 1200 rpm.

Wiring diagram not the easiest to find

Found the wiring diagram on the sales page, not with the product. I can see where it is cheaper not to put it in each package, not everybody needs it. So if it helps keep the cost down, OK.

Seems to work decent, but poor design.

I got this to use with a power feed unit for my X2 mill. The physical design leaves a lot to be desired because the control buttons & speed dial face in different directions, making it nearly impossible to make a neat enclosure for it. Electrically, it's stupid. The on/off switch works backwards... the down position is off, and the upper position is on. Counterintuitive to how every other application of this type of push button switch works. Additionally, it appears as though they've used an audio taper pot instead of a linear taper which would have been more appropriate for this application. Oh, and this is special... one of the LED's illuminate when the switch is in the off position, and goes out when in the on position. And finally, it didn't come with any manner of wiring diagram or sheet or anything... typical Chinese mentality of building a device and not documenting it. Luckily there is a decent amount of information to be found on the web. After all is said and done, it does work pretty decent. We'll see how long it holds up.

It works!

this device simply works and does what it is supposed to.

Works like you would expect. Read below for more.

The unit is layed out in a way that is a bit hard to box up with the pot orthogonal to the start/stop and direction switch. For home hobby, you can work around this. There is a little bit of overlap between three speed ranges but I had to also play with step count to get the best overall RPM range for my application vs. stalling the stepper across the speed range. There are several pictures of this board from various sellers. A couple sellers have wiring diagrams so once you find that it's easy to understand.Overall happy with this for what it is. As an aside there is a similar unit in a nice enclosure for a little more than 2x the price of this unit. Would go that way in future as it saves hassle of packing this one up.
