Good for the money
Just bought this , just started making knives no problems so far . Update had to make a few changes , it won’t take ceramic belts because of the tolerances on the drive wheel and the guard , easy fix with the band saw and trimed couple inches off the work rest for easier belt changing so I didn’t have to spend extra time re squaring the workrest every time

Great entry level grinder for the new knife maker
After modifying it to meet my needs, this machine is a beast! I have to cool the blade often as it heats up pretty fast while grinding. An upgrade would be to add a VFD so we could slow it down, however, this motor isn't made for such. Otherwise, I love it. I will eventually modify the work table as well, but for now I'm just clamping a piece of 4x6 x1/8" steel to the table so I can use my bevel jig.Update: the platen on my machine was already dished out, so, I installed a ceramic glass platen yesterday so my work will be flat instead of curved. I also further modified the work table in order to adjust it to accommodate the new platen, otherwise the belt, especially a scotch brite conditioning belt would grind into the table. Im still planning on designing a new version of the work table, and once that's done I'll post up some pics. Also, I've heard that many folks think disc sander is pointless, however, I use it quite a bit.So far, I really like this machine; there's definitely a "getting to know you" period with respect to grinding heat treated steel at such high rpms. If the tip of your knife is thin, super extra care must be taken to avoid over heating it, which I did a few times despite dunking the blade in water after each pass on the belt. Just have to plan ahead and leave enough material on the blade when you're finishing your bevels

Good buy for the money.
There are a lot of different sanders on the market. I bought this for the purpose of making knives. There are a couple things that are more complicated, but overall it is does what I need it to do. I would like to see a simpler way to switch out belts.

Not too bad. But needs modifications for knife making
Decent grinder but needs modifications.. the table that it comes with is not very good. Slits in it only make things worse. The flat bar behind the belt stick out on both sides so you might want to get a 2" steel flat bar and put it on top

Great for novice knife makers.
I bought this to start my knife making hobby. Spend a little extra on some ceramic belts and this is a great sander to start with stock removal.

Worth the price.
Works well for price. Motor has sufficient power but larger material can bog it down. Changing belts can be a hassle if you're working a project were belt changes are frequent. Overall, well worth the price.
