Difficult and some security concerns
I already know raspberry pi, so I was hoping the Yahboom robot kit would be perfect to teach the kids.Negative:1. Instructions are confusing or incomplete. You will have to spend time looking at different articles our youtube online to eventually put it together.2. only the base is aluminum. The top plate is plastic. The one we received arrived broken.3. the arduino board we received had pins bent. Fortunately, Amazon did a quick exchange4. You are required to install manually an app on you android phone. The app is NOT on the Google Store. You have have to "by-pass" your phones security to install a non-certified app. This is a huge potential security hole. You don't get the apps source code, so you have to trust the app is not doing anything else on your phone.5. They provide a windows app as well. Again, no source code so a potential security hole.6. I still have not found out how to use the live video feed via WIFI and bluetooth controls simultaneously. Supposedly you can control everything via WIFI, but no instructions are provided.7. The batteries don't last long. Maybe 30 minutes. But it takes a very long time to charge. So far more than 4 hours.8. Connection via bluetooth is often difficult. You almost have to have your phone touch the board's bluetooth receiver9. For those with Apple, there is no IOS app.The good:1. I used an old android phone, installed the app (by-passing security). It works pretty well. You have to fine-tune the servos.2. It definitely excited the kids, even thought it caused a lot of frustration (not in a positive way)The kids want to keep it, but the issues around security really concerns me.

Very good e-mail support
915/5000Although the car was purchased just before Christmas, the delivery time was very fast with 5 days. The assembly turned out to be very easy with the instructions. A little more complicated was the change of the ready-made Raspberry image. It had to be reconfigured from AccessPoint to "normal" WLAN client for my requirements first. The attached app for Android apk works as expected. Also the example scripts in python and c worked. The only drawback is a little poor online documentation. But this is more than made up for by e-mail support. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Every time within a day, I got a helpful response. If and from this I go from the online documentation is extended, the product can be unrestricted (which is actually already with the e-mail support so) are recommended.

Design and Quality issues.
After reading the reviews, I thought this would be a perfect robot to build. Unfortunately, mine is a lemon. The quality of the motors is poor, causing the robot to drift, or worse when going straight a "gittering" effect occurs. The robot will eventually sort this out, but not for long once it changes direction the "gittering" comes right back. The Bluetooth receiver only connects if your tablet or phone is a few inches from the robot, and usually takes at least 2 tries before it is successful. The Bluetooth board sits very loose in the socket, so it looses power and thus you get disconnected. The instructions are very small, making it hard to determine where the various screws need to be placed. So you spend a lot of time rebuilding after looking at videos to figure out where things go. The power cord rubs on one of the wheels, a design flaw that the manufacturer is aware of but has chosen to not correct. The included camera needs a firmware update according to the manufactures website in order for it to work via the wifi connection. When I applied the firmware update the camera failed completely, I could not even stream the camera through the attached Raspberry PIThe sonic sensor is not displaying any distance via the android app.I was going to request parts from the manufacture, but consider all the things not working correctly I am returning the product as defective. Just way too many issues in one unit, to spend time troubleshooting any further.

Disappointing kit
This was my first robotics kit using a Raspberry pi. The printed instructions are very inadequate. You have to follow the video tutorial, which is difficult because you have to pause and rewind very often. The kit parts are not labeled, so in many cases you are guessing as to what type of screw or nut to use in a particular situation. The screws are made for countersunk holes, but the holes are not countersunk, so after assembly, as you drive the car around, screws come loose and fall out. The controlling app is a terrible, terrible app. The kit mounts the Raspberry pi in an interior spot that makes it difficult to reach, and you have to disassemble the kit to remove the board. Very inconvenient. Several program functions don't work reliably, and they even mention that on the tutorial website. The wheels rub against cables, if you build it according to the tutorial video. Why have a separate Bluetooth controller when the Raspberry pi has one of its own? Maintaining a connection via bluetooth became a major hassle. In the end, I gave up trying to work with the assembled kit and I purchased a similar kit from Freenove, which has better instructions (not perfect, but much better) and which has been working well right off the bat.
