I bought this as a Father's Day gift for my Father-In-Law who has Macular Degeneration and struggles to read the newspaper, etc. When I showed it to my husband, I was told to order another one for my FIL because my husband was keeping it for himself! With Macular Degeneration there will come a point when my FIL will need a stronger magnification than this (5X). BUT, for now 5X magnification works -- and this is a solidly made product -- and the light feature really makes it GREAT -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

My husband asked me to buy this for him for work purposes. He saw a colleague using it and he wanted one for himself. He uses it many many times a day. It's large and bright, and helps him see small text on computer aided drawings and documents that he works with on a daily basis. In case anyone is wondering, the photo shows it having a blue light, but it's not blue it's a nice white/clear light.

I like this easy to use magnifier and use it all the time. The lighting is fine for reading but perhaps does not have good enough color balance if one is looking at a photo and cares about color accuracy. Sometimes I wish that the lens was larger so that it covered more text, but usually I am not reading a lot of text and more likely looking at something specific that is just a bit too small to see without magnification. The design works best when it can rest on a flat surface although hand-help use is possible. One thing to note when first receiving the magnifier: there is a small switch inside near the battery compartment. It needs to be turned on! After that it is easier to just press down on the ring around the lens to toggle it on or off.

I ordered one of these and one with a stronger magnification. Everyone in our office loved this one so I ordered 10 more. It works great for highlighting the details in the blueprints they are trying to read. I think the light is its best selling feature. Only draw back is the price and a couple of them burned the batteries out within the first two weeks.

This is by far the best magnifier I've ever used - I love everything about it - the size, LED that turns off automatically - I wear bifocals yet still need a magnifier when reading small print - this is ideal for reading teeny tiny print on pill bottles

I look at prints and job plans every day and some can be extremely tiny print. This bad boy does an awesome job to help me see what the naked eye cannot. The light is just the icing on the cake. You can't go wrong.

The magnifier is far from meeting my expectations. The main interest of this magnifier is the interior light that should light up the text, but its intensity is very low and, being a closed magnifier that does not allow ambient light to go in, the result is disastrous.The only positive point is the design.
