Generally, it is a common courtesy to ask someone if you may record them.I am in college and right now, most of my courses are online so it's easy to play back presentations and lectures when I need to but it is not so easy when the lecture is happening live. There are days when I am not attentive as I need to be and there are times when I am confused by the topic so I thought that being able to record lectures would be helpful. As well, since I am going into the legal field, it will be helpful for me to attend to hearings and record them where it is legal to do so. I would even be able to record notes I want to make or reminders when I am not where I can immediately write it down somewhere where I will not forget it. The more I thought about it, the more clear it became that a digital voice recorder would be beneficial for me.This digital voice recorder comes in a nice retail box. There is information about the voice recorder on the sleeve. A lidless box slides out from the sleeve revealing the voice recorder, which is wrapped in plastic and has a plastic protector on the screen. Under the voice recorder is the user's manual and a micro USB cable.The digital voice recorder is small but it does have a little bit of heft to it. It fits perfectly in my close hand leaving the mic open. On the front there is the screen, which is nothing fancy, a left and right button, a play/pause button, and a record button. All but the record button act as navigational buttons for following the screen prompts. On the left side is the on/off slider switch, a mode and delete button, and a micro USB port to charge or connect to a computer. On the right side is an auxiliary port, a volume up and volume down button, and TF card/SD card slot. There are markings on the back identifying all the buttons, ports, and slots on the side even though all the buttons are marked on the buttons themselves.Just by playing around with it I figured out most of it. It's pretty easy to figure out once you get the hang of the navigating buttons. They can be a bit confusing. You can set the time and date so you have a time and date stamp. It has a one touch record so no matter what screen you are in, when you press record it will take you to the record menu and start recording but this isn't instant. It takes about 10 seconds to go from elsewhere to recording. It is instant if you are already in the record menu. Hitting record again automatically stops and saves the recording. You do not have to worry about saving it. If you recorded something you don't want, you will just have to go in the files and delete but that beats that accidentally forgetting to save a recording.There are a lot of features that I will never need to use as far as I am aware of. You can record telephone conversations and even listen to music on it. The speakers are surprising loud for being such a small device but they are not exactly dance party quality. You can connect an external microphone to it. You can set a timer to start recording and even set it to start recording when there is noise present. The sensitivity can be adjusted for the voice control recording.This is a pretty neat little device and I look forward to getting a lot of use out it with school and in my future career.

The build quality of this recorder is better than most. It has a solid feel and easy to understand controls.If there is a way to plug in a mic that I have missed, then I will up it to five stars.MP3 audio playback is also very good. So, for an all purpose device, I'm quite happy with it.

My husband really needed one of these for his job. It's important that it could record a whole conversation and that it was easily transferable to other forms of media.After checking out a bunch of different websites and opinions on different recorders it occurred to me that I could just go on Amazon and check out their selection.Eventually I decided on this one. So far so good. My husband has had no issues with it working or with it being difficult to use. It holds a good amount of data and transfers well. Overall easy to use and it works great.

The instructions could use some work....font size increase and organization, but got through it and the device works well, good recording results and certainly small enough to transport in a pocket.

This recorder does not pick up voices in a room unless your mouth is right near it. Only good for maybe notes to yourself , but a cell phone can do that.
