Review: Gypsum Powder for Soil - A Game Changer for Mushroom Cultivation and Lawn CareI recently had the opportunity to try out the Gypsum Powder for Soil, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in every way! This product claims to promote root growth and serve as a soil aerator, and I'm happy to report that it delivers on those promises beautifully.First and foremost, the purity and solubility of this gypsum powder are commendable. As a soil conditioner, it effectively enhances the texture of clay soil, making it more manageable and conducive for planting. I noticed a significant improvement in soil aeration after incorporating it into my garden. The powder dissolves well, allowing for even distribution, which is crucial when addressing compacted areas. In addition to its utility for mushroom growers, this gypsum powder is also a fantastic calcium fertilizer for lawns. I've applied it to my grass patches, and the results were impressively quick. The lawn appears greener, healthier, and has better overall resilience to pests and diseases.Safety is a key consideration for me, and knowing this product is made in the USA gives me added peace of mind. It feels great to support domestic products while also ensuring that what I'm using in my garden is safe for the environment. Finally, I find the price to be fair for the quality and effectiveness of this product. The 5lbs bag goes a long way, and considering the results I’ve seen, it's well worth the investment. In summary, the Gypsum Powder for Soil is an exceptional product that has transformed not only my gardening experience but also the quality of my crops. Whether you're cultivating mushrooms or simply improving your lawn, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this gypsum powder a try! You won't be disappointed.

Good gypsum.
My heavy clay "gumbo" soil here in southeast Texas apparently is lacking calcium, as evidenced by the symptoms that some of my plants display. Also, there are areas of my yard where heavy foot traffic for a few years has killed the grasses and compacted the dirt severely, and only nutsedge and other undesirable weeds want to grow in such areas. This gypsum is easy to apply with water, though due to the fine nature of the powder I recommend using a dust mask to handle it. This gypsum seems to be helping my soil already, the grasses are starting to take the compacted areas back over quickly.Gypsum Powder for Soil - Promotes Root Growth for Mushrooms Soil Aerator Calcium Fertilizer - Pure and Soluble Soil Conditioner for Clay Soil and Lawn (5lbs)

Information For Those New With Gypsum
As you can see by the photo I took for you here, this is a very, very powdery substance so much so that I will definitely wear a mask whenever I open the container. If you have a clay that doesn’t drain well, you may have to mix it into your bare soil. Of course for lawns, this is not an issue even if your ground is compacted because the air spaces around the grass let the gypsum in to do it’s work.As far as how much, I looked it up and it says that you should get a soil test first to see if you really need gypsum because too much gypsum can actually result in the gypsum pulling nutrients out of your soil. Surprisingly it says to put no more than 1 pound of gypsum per 1 gallon of water! That’s a lot. As far as bare soil application, it says 2-3 handfuls of gypsum per square meter. And a square meter = 10.76 square feet. And then, dig the soil over and water it in.

Fine powder gypsum soil amendment
Trying to treat a calcium deficiency or alkaline soil with pelletized gypsum can take a while and cause quite a bit of damage to your crop waiting for it to break down. Next to using a baking soda spray, fine powder gypsum will get working right away lowering your ph and providing valuable calcium to your crop. Gypsum or garden sulfur combined with dolomite lime are the first 2 amendments I add to any soil I'm about to use. Growing organically with living soil, it is imperative to regulate your ph levels but I've had much more success monitoring them at the medium than i have with my water. A good digital soil ph tester will give you an idea of when a calcium or magnesium deficiency are creeping up on your crop long before any leaves change and no matter what ph your water is. This fine powder gypsum binds to the soil and creates more surface for water and nutrient retention. Immediately after a growth spurt, i know it's time to start getting my ph back up. Calcium is a vital mineral needed for healthy growth and this is the best gypsum I've used. Highly, highly recommend this stuff.

Perfect and long lasting for mixing into CVG for culinary mushroom grows.
If you're trying to make special fungi to pair with your dishes (steaks, etc), generally you will need to make a good substrate to grow them on. I use this gypsum in preparing that substrate, which is additionally made of coco coir and vermiculite. Adds a lot of important minerals to the mix that mycelium grows on, and also bulks up and extends how many grow tubs you get out of your substrate. Overall, this bag of 5 lbs will last for a long time (I only use one cup to make a huge amount of substrate). It can of course be used in vegetable gardens and any place that needs a balance of extra minerals added or enhanced water capacity from the addition of sulfate and calcium. This vendor has a good mineral mix (shown here in a pic), and I'll come back to them for further needs down the road. Also an excellent value for the 5 lbs. This one gets a 5 from me.
