Obviously I can only comment on the item I received, whether it was a one off 'duff one' I can't say. The one I received was absolute garbage, total waste of money,it's over a month since I sent it back for a full refund but from what I remember, the only 'fairly' accurate feature was the chord, but not within 5mm, the laser was plus/minus 50mm I think, up to 2m, then after that it was plus/minus 100mm or more, always a random error so you couldn't account for it, the roller/wheel measure was plus/minus 10mm. Build quality is cheap plastic, accuracy is abysmal, but if you don't need it for measuring and you've got lots of £'s and time to waste then it's a good thing to fill a space in your tool box.

Bought for my dad for fathers day. He loves it. The first thing he did was check the accuracy with a manual tape and he is impressed with the performance

Error comes up when using the rolling function.

Gift for a friend he was very impressed and opened it and started to play with it straight away

This is a 2 in 1 NOT a 3 in 1. The ultrasonic measure does not work at all. The laser is a GUIDE ONLY. Don't think it measures by laser because it doesn't. I haven't a clue what the manufacturers calibrated it to, because it's all over the place. As for the other two facilities the roller is the more accurate but this is only if you handle the device precisely. Over a calibrated steel rule, 300mm measures 300.5mm - 301mm. 0.5mm deviation over the runs.1mm maximum error. The string measure over the same distance measures. 302mm to 302.5mm. Whilst the deviation is only 0.5mm the maximum error is 2.5mm. So clearly the advertised PRO LABEL and the claimed accuracy of 1/1000th of an inch is blatantly inaccurate. Whilst this may be useful for jobs around the house that don't require accuracy. I wouldn't take it anywhere near a workplace / professional job for love nor money. NICE TOY, for the 2 functions that work, for at home. Don't take it to work though.

ein Stern ist noch zu viel! Das Gerät taugt nicht einmal als Spielzeug. Es zeigt unter allen Maßeinheiten die selbe Zahl an egal wie nah oder weit die Entfernung ist. Nicht einmal das Verpackungsmaterial gechweige denn die Arbeit des Postboten wert. Der klassische Zollstock ist dagegen klarer Gewinner.
