So Far So Good
So I removed two loops and that was probably a mistake, I'm thinking I should've just removed one. Anyway, it's still easier to remove than the cups (and it works better too, and is more comfortable). Three loops was definitely excessive and uncomfortable for me, and now I can't even feel it most of the time. It goes in and out way easier than cups, once I figured out a trick to getting it in, and the loops really do help a lot with removal. I wouldn't say there was absolutely no leaking, particularly during trips to the bathroom, but it was very little and certainly less than cups or tampons and nothing some cheap period underwear couldn't handle.A couple notes: I also heard that discs were supposed to help with painful cramps, and I did notice a very slight improvement but honestly, someone recommended naproxen to me, and that is both over the counter and far, far more effective than both discs and ibuprofen, or really anything else I've tried. I did also check out Period Nirvana's youtube channel for tips and tricks - choosing the right product, how to use them, troubleshooting etc., and I think that helped or at least gave me the confidence to try it out.TL;DR - I've only been using this disc for a couple days now so I can't really comment on its longevity, but so far so good, I'd recommend it.

Three sizes! Loops for days! :D
I absolutely love that Moonthlies came out with three sizes of this disc. So many other discs are one size fits most - MOST. What about everyone else?! And with a ladder loop similar to the Merula cup!I got the small size in blue.Disc description:- The rim is pretty firm, though I squeeze it a lot, and over the past few months it's softened a bit and become a bit more springy. I'd rate it about 3.5 on Period Nirvana's scale - about the same as Saalt disc. Unlike most other discs, the rim is smooth on the outside and curves on the inside of the disc. The logo is lasered into the inside of the rim. The indent of the logo is thin enough that water and blood mostly just glide over it, so it's not as much of a pain to clean as I thought it would be. The rim is tall, about the same as Hello disc and just as thick.- The basin is on the thicker side for discs. It's very springy but can be terrible at holding itself open depending on your anatomy.- The LOOPS! The loops are pretty squishy, very round, and quite stretchy. They feel pretty sturdy. The loops are long enough that you can wear them tucked under the disc if you want to. Or you can trim them to your preference.- The small size is 59 x 51mm (I confirmed with a ruler), so I'm not sure why Moonthlies is telling people in the Q&A that it's 55mm unless they've updated it. I bought mine a couple days after it was released. I measured a capacity of about 30ml.- The silicone is a nice matte feel, very smooth and pleasant.- Packaging is a plastic resealable bag (why resealable? Who knows). It comes with samples of their wash and lube and a booklet with the basics of disc usage. The disc itself came in a sealed clear plastic bag inside the resealable bag. Sustainability failed hard with this kind of packaging. My experience with the disc:- Oh boy did this disc NOT work for me! It turns out that oval discs just don't quite work for me, and I really thought I needed small discs, but it turns out no, I don't. So a small, oval disc is apparently just disaster. I did not get any real capacity out of this disc. I leaked consistently at 5-6ml, and even managed to dump while sitting on the couch and doing a kegel movement. The basin formed a hill inside me, and my blood just filled in the little bit of space around it. It works just fine for my light days though.- Insertion when the disc is wet is slightly tricky. The rounded rim would slide against each other when pinched, so keeping a hold of the disc for insertion required a bit of extra concentration. I'm not sure why the rim needed to be so rounded - maybe changing the shape affects the feel of the rim. Not my favorite design choice.- Cleaning isn't too bad. You do need to pay attention to underneath the inner rim and the logo. I found I sometimes missed a bit underneath the inside rim.- Removal is EASY PEASY. I didn't really fancy tucking the loops, and untrimmed was far too long. I trimmed off two loops and found that a single loop was perfect. The loops don't bother me at all, but someone sensitive to textures and the like may find the loops unpleasant. When I bought this disc, I was genuinely convinced I needed a small size. I never thought I would slightly regret not getting a dual size pack. I thought about picking up the medium to try, but at that size I may as well just use my Diva disc, which I love (even with issues due to its oval shape).I can't speak to their happiness guarantee, as I emailed Moonthlies well within the three months and never got a response.I got the disc at $15 when it was released in February 2023. I see that it's now $20 in June 2023. I would still consider it a great buy. I put the included samples into my purse with my purse disc for on-the-go use.TL;DR - This is not a disc that will ever get lost inside you, because the loop is long enough that you should always be able to reach it (assuming you didn't tuck it). If you don't know your size, definitely get a dual size pack, because while some people can use multiple disc sizes, the best disc experience will always come from a disc that fits YOU. This disc did not work for me, but I don't regret buying and trying it, as it led me to realize what kind of discs DO work for me.

Saving the environment & your money
As multiple people have pointed out, every body is different so what works for some may not work for others. Know that this will be a trial of error and patience. To save some time, take the quiz on "PutACupInIt.com" - they have a quiz for both menstrual discs and cups & it's a good starting point to see what cups and/or discs may work for you, especially for people who are not sure what features to look out for when choosing one.My review will be from the perspective of someone who is new to the menstrual disc and cup game. I have never even used tampons before. I have only ever tried the Moonthlies menstrual disc and Lily menstrual cup. For someone who is not used to sticking things up there, I found the menstrual disc easier to insert than the menstrual cup b/c when you fold it, the fold size is uniform all the way through while folding a menstrual cup still leaves some part of it bigger than its thinnest part (given the nature of its triangular design). That being said, this will be a learning curve if you have never used a disc or cup before. You will become very comfortable with your body after this - you have to. No lie - it took me ~1-2 hours to insert the disc and even after a couple of successful attempts, I was still learning. I attribute that partially to fear of the discomfort of insertion & just not recognizing WHAT it should feel like once you notch it in the right place. After I started recognizing the sensation, it became much easier and now I can insert it within a couple minutes. The disc's rim is sturdy, which helps with staying in place but it can leak if you did not insert it correctly and/or you don't empty it at least once throughout the day (depending if you're a heavy bleeder or not). I am able to sit comfortably and exercise if I want without feeling like something is poking me (this will also depend how far you insert it and how high your cervix is). A lot of people have talked about menstrual disc's autodumping feature but I never got the hang of that.Because it is made out of silicone, by nature of the material, it retains odors easily. You shouldn't smell anything while using it but once you take the disc out after half the day has gone by, don't be surprised by the odor. I have tried re-boiling the disc, cleaning it with soap, and leaving it outside in the sun (which did help fade the smell a little bit) but nothing completely took the odor away except time but even then, there was always a lingering smell. I don't think this is a deal-breaker though because the disc is going to be reused anyways. It beats the smell of reusable menstrual pads which is definitely noticeable outside of the body.Overall, I am pleased with my purchase & hope you find your compatible match because it does seem worth it once you do - for the environment and your wallet.

Very comfortable, no leaks, and truly mess-free period sex? Take my money!
This disc is exactly the kind of product I've been looking for! I know this review is long, but I tried to cover everything - insertion, removal, customization, sex, accessories/cleaning products, etc - so if you're looking for a thorough review, hopefully it'll be worth reading.I've had 25+ years experience w menstruation and I've tried all the collection methods. After seeing lawsuits over tampons, I decided to look into a safer and more sustainable solution.I liked the cups, but the ridge on the "brim" of the cup hurt when I removed it. I tried multiple brands and sizes, but removal was always uncomfortable at best and downright painful at worst. And I always had to wear a pad or liner with it bc of leaks.I was nervous about the disc after reading some of the reviews, but I decided to give it the old college try and I'm so glad I did!It comes with a "tail" that you can cut down to whatever length works best for you. I personally cut it down to the first loop, which gives me just enough to grab onto. I worried the disc wouldn't fit right with the loop on there, but I haven't had any issues with it yet. With just that one loop, the disc still tucks up behind my pubic bone and the loop sits just under the bone but I don't feel it at all.Note: I saw someone in another review complain about the loops "poking" them after they cut them down, so I did take an emery board to the parts I cut, just to make sure they were smooth.YouTube has a lot of really helpful insertion and removal tutorials and I really recommend watching them. I was actually surprised how easy it was to put in.Just don't put it in pointing straight up like a tampon. You want to angle it back towards your butt when you insert it and then push upwards on the front of the rim once it's inside.Removal was painless and I didn't experience any mess whatsoever. I just sat on the toilet and removed it slowly and steadily, angling it the same way I did upon insertion. If you're having trouble reaching it, just push/bear down like you have to poop while you're removing it.I think the people complaining about the mess are just pulling the cup straight down and out like a tampon and then they act all shocked Pikachu when the literal bowl of liquid they're holding sideways spills.I haven't tried sex with the disc in yet, but I'm planning to try it tonight and I'll come back with an update on that experience. If you're thinking about it, I think it's worth trying it. Of course, your mileage may vary but I wish you luck with it! I'm definitely converting to the disc now and I'll be recommending it to my friends and family after my experience.****************UPDATE AFTER SEX WITH DISC IN: I was really nervous to try sex with the disc in, but after thoroughly researching the topic, we tried it and it truly was a mess-free, painless experience! Neither of us felt the disc either, which is a major plus for me. My husband is amazed.According to multiple articles, it's ideal to empty your disc shortly before sex, so I'm sure that helps to ensure there's no mess either. Don't try to take the disc out immediately after either - the sources I found said to wait at least 15 minutes to 2 or more hours after sex before removal. If you're nervous about trying sex w the disc in or you have questions about it, Google is definitely your friend. YouTube is also a treasure trove of information. If you've thought of a question or concern, I can almost guarantee someone else has already thought about it and asked or addressed it too. I was actually really surprised at just how much information is out there about the discs and how easy it was to find the answers to all of my questions.****************(Also, I HIGHLY recommend the Pixie Cup collapsible cleaning, sterilizing and storage cup and their lube. The lube is water based so it's safe to use with silicone and it's REALLY nice! It's slippery and doesn't get sticky, so I think it would be really nice for other activities too. They actually have a kit on sale on their website that comes with the cleaning cup, wipes, stain remover, a gel wash that can be used for both discs AND intimate areas, and a water-based lube for $30 dollars! If you use code freegift5 they'll give you $5 off your order, which covers shipping!)

My Goldilocks Disk!
I also tried Ecoblossom large and small, and the Pixie soft small. Ultimately my choice came down to finding the right size, since just a little too big made me drip urine, and just a little too small autodumped randomly, but I'm really glad that the moonthlies small was the one that ended up fitting right, since it has the best loops. Some reviews didn't like the loop placement, but the fact they are attached right on the edge of the rim is what makes it come out so easily. The ecoblossome loop is under the rim, which forces you to use one finger to pull the loop, and a second to guide the rim out of your body (idk how to describe it, but the physics is wrong). The pixie has a string which means you have to insert 2 fingers to grip the string, but with the moonthlie I can literally insert and remove with just one finger, which is a big reason I wanted to switch from cups (those things are too big for casual insertion in my opinion). I don't think the loops are at any risk of breaking overtime, unlike the pixie, and I love that it's customizable. Personally I cut off one loop. My cervix position changes a lot during my cycle, so I have to tuck the loops up with the disc during the first day or two. I've considered cutting off one more loop, but I think I would get blood on my hand if I did. With the longer loops my hand is out of the way, by the time the blood starts pouring out, (just like Hello disc advertises). The little black storage bag is good quality, and the lube and cleaning wipes are a nice touch. At risk of sounding too much like an advertisement I also really freaking love that they don't use 'girly' colors. Obviously not the most important thing, but I get so sick of every menstraul products, toy, and even underwear coming in pink and purple. Actually in hindsight I wish I got the black disk, it looks sick and the blue is already starting to discolor a little. Obviously we're all built different inside, but this is a solid mensural disc if it fits your needs.
