Kore: The Taking of Persephone Series, Book 1

A Beautiful Persephone/Hades Story Retelling
Oh wow… where to start? This is my favorite retelling of the Persephone/Hades story, and I will be counting down the days til the next book in the series is released. The story had me captivated with every page. The description of the world was beautiful and the characters were perfectly written and represented. Kore’s story was given justice and more, as she was a flawed, curious, complicated heroine that you rooted for the entire time. Hades was the perfect tall, dark and handsome broody love interest you want to read more about. And Hermès! Ahh he was so funny and what a ray of sunshine! It’s fast paced and has so many funny, sweet, thrilling and heart warming moments that I’m sure to go back to time and time again. Definitely recommend! (Oh and the spice was nice! 🌶🌶🌶/5)

Worth the Read!
I thought the story was really great, it was a slow burn and worth the wait to get to the burning romance (ie erotic portions). Those scenes weren't over-done or smutty, which I appreciated. A few typos here and there, but truly worth reading, especially if you love Greek mythology.

A thrilling and refreshing story
So over the past few years and especially during the pandemic (2020-?) I’ve read a lot of stories/fanfics/mangas. But I haven’t reviewed any as I’m not as talented in words as others. However, I am such a fan of Greek mythos and literature. I’ve seen many iterations of Persephone/Kore and Hades and this one is by far my favorite. It was like reading it for the first time. The darkness of the story enticed me. The way Ms. Ambrosia Harris captured the pair was perfect. Right down to the last scene.Which is why I’m making this review at near midnight 2 days after receiving this book as a recommendation. Please if you love romance, dark romance, Greek mythology, or a story about a strong woman who wants to take charge of her own destiny; take a chance with this one you won’t be disappointed!I will be waiting (not so patiently) for the sequel!

Great, great book…
I really enjoyed this version of the story. It was well written and nicely paced. Some of the other reviews mentioned a lot of typos and the like, so I’m not really sure what they’re referring to, in all honesty it may have been one, but that took nothing away from the book at all. I just bought the part 2 book Hades, and cannot wait to dive in. I would most definitely recommend reading this if you’re into Greek mythology, as I always have been.

Asphodel forever
I heard many people say that this was the ultimate Hades and Persephone retelling. That is a bit of an exaggeration.Pros:I appreciate that while Persephone is innocent in many ways she isn't simple and weak. She has secrets, fears and depth making her more than some man's love interest.I appreciate that everything is from a single perspective allowing you to really sink into how the character thinks and feels about things.Cons:I was raved to about the writing style and how it was so good, I feel those beliefs were a misunderstanding. It wasn't a fast read because it was so good, it was fast because the author is tediously repetitive. If you have gone to a field of asphodel the next sentence doesn't need to state that you can smell the asphodel, you just say something about the scent surrounding you. When you then use the flower name for a third sentence in a row you come off as a student who doesn't have enough content to finish their assignment adding filler in hopes it won't be noticed. I would also point out that most paragraphs were under four sentences long leaving empty space on the page that wasn't necessary.I feel that if we had Hades' POV in this book he was actually up to so!e thing all along that Persephone lacked the experience to recognize.

Definitely intriguing
I haven’t finished the book yet for starters. However what I have read is good, it’s an interesting twist. There’s some issues with typos/ and punctuation. More than I’d like, but that’s an editor issue. Sometimes I have to read sentences over to figure out it doesn’t make sense because it’s missing a comma. I read a sentence twice at one point to figure out that “lants” was supposed to be “plants”.But this author definitely has a great idea going and so far I like the way she is writing it. I’ll be finishing this book and starting the next as I purchased them both.

I really loved this book
As a big fan of Hades and Persephone, it's hard to find books about them that isn't just plain smut. I prefer cleaner books and while there are a few adult, sexual scenes, it isn't until towards the end of the book and isn't as spicy as other books. Ms. Harris makes Persephone a sweet, yet spunky young goddess and Hades is a gentle, dark hair, clean cut brooding god of the Underworld. I look forward to reading the next ones in this series!

Oh My Gods
This book. As someone who works with the diety Persephone and the rest of the dark goddesses, I was excited to read this because of all the buzz around it and it did not dissapoint me. Other than a few editing distractions, this was a PLEASURE to read. It's heavy on the description but I expect that in a Greek Retelling. The slow burn absolutely drove me wild, but it was such perfection. I got really emotionally invested, and I felt every single emotion Kore and Hades were experiencing. This is a love letter to the Gods and they would be so honored. The ending is a cliffhanger, and it literally broke my heart, but love just isn't love for me unless its tragic, and in that it is the absolute perfect ending. I can not wait for the rest of this series.

Great Retelling, but printing quality lacks
Book itself is great. Classic Retelling of a well loved myth from Kore's pov.The printing quality, well, it's not so good. While the text inside is clear, the book cover and back have a blue hue and you cannot see the contrasts at all. E.g., the crystal on the cover, sadly, just looks like a black splotch, plus the images look overall very pixel-esque. It's just not good.If you want to get a physical copy, go buy the Barnes & noble version instead. The cover is different, but the quality is 1000 times better.

Hades and Persephone like never before
This…just wow. Harris has crafted a detailed and beautiful tale weaving the weight of duty with the freedom given by love. Kore and Hades are richly nuanced characters and I couldn’t put the book down—I love both of them. So if you haven’t read this book, what are you waiting for?I’m just going to stalk Ambrosia Harris so I can figure out when the next book will be mine!
