Yes. There is no guarantee that it will always work, but 95% of the time WD-40 helps with any job like this, even when it is rust encrusted. I can not imagine not having a can of WD-40 around to help with any situation like this.

Q: Can you safely pour this down the drain? I sprayed a lot of it into a pan.

This is an industrial based lubricant, and like all industrial lubricants, it should not be poured down the sink, especially if you have a septic tank.

Q: Can this be used to remove gray colored and hardened bird droppings from outside surface of a car?

Not the right product and much to strong for Paint. There are many better products. There this turtle was bug and tar remover for example. You are wise to get it off as it’s organic and will eat into your clear coat. At least hose it off and then later use any of the bug remover products when you can.
