I was specifically looking for a small USB-C hub supporting 2.5Gbps Ethernet. There just aren't that many out there yet. Tons with 1Gbps support, but I didn't want to invest in "old tech" if I could avoid it. If the price to get 2.5Gbps support were significantly higher (like it still is for routers, unfortunately), I probably would have just settled for a 1Gbps one, but with the reasonable price of this hub, luckily, I don't have to.Aside from the 2.5Gbps Ethernet support, I also wanted USB-C power pass-through (the main reason why I stopped looking at Ethernet-only adapters; didn't want to "lose" one of my two USB ports), HDMI, at least one additional USB-C port and also at least one USB-A port for those times it still happens to come in handy. SD card support would have been a nice bonus, but you won't get that here. Not a big deal to me, as I'd prefer an SD card adapter to be something I can stick in my pocket anyway, rather than being tied to a full hub. Of course, for the many people out there who use SD card readers on a daily basis, you might not be so willing to sacrifice the support here.I knew I ultimately wanted two hubs like this one, but was hesitant to get two upfront considering there were 0 reviews or even ratings on it so far. So I started by ordering just one, to try out on my M1 MacBook Air. After verifying it did everything I needed it to do, I then hooked it up to my iPad mini 6 to see if I should pick up another one of these to use with that. Also worked perfectly with the mini, so I came back the same day I received the first hub and ordered another.The one thing I kind of wish were different with this hub is that the permanently attached USB-C cable is definitely a bit shorter than I'd prefer. However, it's still long enough to make it work, and I also get that you wouldn't want a fixed cable on something meant to be portable like this to be a lot longer than needed; especially one that's as stiff as this one. OK, so that's one more minor nit; I wish the cable were more pliable so that it would just easily conform to whatever space you had to work with. Considering how well it does what I really need it to do, though, and in a sturdy, attractive enclosure (no cheap plastic case on this one!), I don't feel it would be right to dock it a star for not having a longer or more pliable cable on it.These two hubs were my introduction to Orico. Hadn't even heard the name before I bought these, but I saw that their other products seemed to generally be rated well on Amazon and elsewhere. And based on what I've seen with these hubs, I'll definitely keep them in mind in the future!

Works Well and allows for a lot of peripheral into the PC

I've tested all the features except for HDMI thus far. It really does do multiple USB's and Ethernet and VGA all at once, reliably continuing to do so for a full remote-workday without getting hot.USB PD works well even if you have a less than 100W adapter to plug it into. I used the 45W adapter that came with my work laptop and it still charged while all the functions I tested worked.Works fine with Chrome OS and non-Google Linux. I did not need to do anything special.One caveat: it cannot read both full-size SD and micro SD (TF) cards at once. Also, you most likely want to use the USB PD if you can, since otherwise any hard drives you plug in will be powered off the USB-C port.

Light weight, performs well, compact. Durability over time TBD.

I love this thing! 2.5G ethernet was an absolute requirement and this thing works for it. Very well made and portable. They also put the ethernet, HDMI, and power on one side, which is helpful for keeping cables organized. Only thing I wish it had is a removable USB C cable. It does get warm under use so make sure it is not covered by anything.

Needed to replace another dock I was using, started dropping USB.Have HDMI+VGA extended, works on the other.This Orico device only does a single output, mirroring it on both outputs. Not extended/dual.I believe they are intentionally vague and misleading. Their website does the same.Returning

I've had trouble with some USB-C docks for Chromebook in the past. So until now I've been using a (very expensive) Kensington that's "certified" by Google for Chromebook, but I wanted to upgrade to 2.5G Ethernet, so I decided to give this one a try. Happy to say, it works flawlessly. No problems with USB, HDMI, Ethernet, or charging. At this price (about what most charge for *just* a 2.5G USB Ethernet adapter) that's an easy 5 stars.

While this USB C hub did start its life working perfectly well, over the 7 months that I've had it, the device's functionality has degraded to the point that I can no longer use my wireless mouse with the dongle plugged into via this device. Additionally, the number of devices that have outright stopped working with this hub entirely has gone up.I will point out that the HDMI port will not work unless your PC is equipped to feed a video signal out of the port you're plugging the hub into, and the devices that have the most compatibility issues do not have that capability, so perhaps that is related, but regardless it should not report an unrecognized device like...ever.As much as I appreciate the low price tag of this hub, having a lifespan of what seems to be only around a year makes it very unappealing to me.
