Solved Binding Issue after Firmware Flashing the FrSky R-XSR Ultra Receiver

Solved: I have never had a single issue with FrSky products, Yes FrSky with a "R" until I met this little Rascal. Step one: move the signal wire to the correct position for SBUS Step two: flash the critical ACCST Firmware update as per the FrSky instructions, NUTS! The receiver no longer Binds to my radio??Several hours later, multiple searches and video's I still couldn't Bind to the receiver with the updated Firmware.I was working on another project last night using a breadboard, I connected the updated RXSR receiver to the DC rail to see if I could Bind the RXSR, it did so with no issue whatsoever. The RXSR servo signal output is strong and clean.I have no idea why the RXSR receiver will not Bind with the power from the ESC? I have repeated this experiment with three different ESC's producing the same result each time. Can it be as simple as Binding the RXSR using direct DC power to the receiver before moving it to the model? I really don't know hopefully this will help someone. Peace

small powerfull light telemetry 16 channel smartport

This is my go to reciever. 16 channel sbus and smartport in a superlight supersmall cheap package!?!?!?!?!I have a xm+ that has been in every model i own since it gets used for a few days until i miss my telemetry then it gets replaced with this guy. It has pads for uninverted, inverted smartport and rssi making it compatible with all the flight controllers. Out of the box it transmits rssi and input voltage telemetry without a flight controller. if used without a flight controller in a plane or rc-car you can get smartport compatible lipo and temp sensors seperatly but to be honest getting a f3 flight controller for a drone and using it as a sensor board/data logger only is cheaper then getting just one standalone smartport compatible sensor. They can also be hooked up to a second reciever like a xm+ as a backup via sbus in/out incase it breaks or the antennas get ripped out. All i need is a simple sbus to pwm converter to drive servos. A big feature is the fact that you can plug it in instead of direct solder. it makes it easy to take the model apart since its usally mounted to the frame. The only downside is the voltage input. be aware that the input takes up to 10volts but since the on board regulator is linear and not switiching it will get hot when used over 5 volts and the ipex antennas suck when they come off.

Perfect receiver for 3" to 4" quadcopters...

This receiver is a really good option on builds were size and weight are important, if you are building a micro or a mini quad (90mm to 150mm frame) this is the perfect receiver!! The main benefit of the R-XSR it's that the receiver provides full telemetry, so you can use the potential of the Taranis radio even on the small drones obtaining details like Battery pack voltage, current consumption, Battery pack capacity remaining (%), Roll/pitch/yaw, and other data provided thanks to the use of the SmartPort...One word of caution: I have not being able to left seller feedback on the first module that I received from RotorLogic, they send me a used one, the wiring was already cut and looks like someone already soldered to the FC, missing the cable for upgrading the firmware, no paperwork, just the receiver tosed on a plastic bag (check the pics!!), avoid the seller, I got the second one from FrSky Hobby and it is a perfect new fully packed one (as should be when you buy NEW!).Thanks to Amazon for the fast refund and making easy to return the item!!!

Expected performance for 2.4GHz RX

Update: I thought I should come back and update my review because I am having a better experience now with this receiver than before after replacing the antennas. Not sure why the range was so horrid with the originals, but after replacing them it seems to be working just as well as my XM+ rx. I still don't trust flying out very far but the same was true with my XM+ and really any 2.4GHz receivers. If you want the range and the security that comes with it, you need a rx that operates at lower frequencies, like R9 or crossfire. This is barely adequate for line of sight flying. Keeping a star off because this rx had bad antennas from the manufacturer and because of that my quad dropped straight down onto the street, killing my camera, my VTX, a battery, the top plate of my frame and two motors.I bought this to replace an XM+ receiver because I wanted telemetry. I successfully flashed it with the latest FPORT firmware and configured my quad to match the settings and everything seemed good. I went out for a test flight and I got a failsafe about 150m out. No issue, the GPS rescue feature brought it back to me. I continued to fly it just not going out so too far. It failsafed on me within 50m, GPS rescue won't work that close so it straight dropped onto the concrete. Probably going to put my XM+ back in, it has never given me a failsafe.

Works fine after updating Internal RF module

Attempting to bind this little guy to my older discontinued XD9 Plus I had issues. The red status LED would not flash on the R-XSR showing the binding process. I tried flashing the R-XSR several times and found that my issue was not the R-XSR it was my Radio. I needed to update the XJT internal firmware. This flashing the internal RF Module is right there on the main description of the item shown as the very first bullet point and I glossed over it. After I updated the XJT internal firmware it bound immediately to my radio.

Note that this is loaded with 2.x FW

If you are using older 1.x FW you will need to down flash this module to 1.x. Works great after down flashing. If all 3 LEDs come on solid when you attempt to bind, most likely your TX has 1.x FW. I chose not to upgrade my TX to 2.x because 2.x is does not work with most 'no name' Rx modules including whoop. Got to love FRSky's new leaf on life. Funny that the silk reads 2.3.x but I can only find 2.1.x
