I was not happy however to see the 2 TB boxes no longer ...

I recently upgraded my sky 1 TB HD Box to the New TB Box, i was originally quoted £249 plus £60 installation fee , but after complaining to sky got everything for free. I was not happy however to see the 2 TB boxes no longer have the RF Outlets as i have 4 TV's linked in through a TV link box. This means each of the 4 tvs can show the sky channels or their own freeview channels so we can record 2 sky channels and watch a free view hd channel or i can watch my sky movies in the lounge whilst my wife watches freeview or amazon/netflix in the kitchen so no tv arguments. This unit will work without the power supply but the picture wont be as good and it may not get enough power from the sky box for more than one or two magic eyes . I was initially annoyed at having to buy a power supply too , one more plug socket used but it has worked out for the best.It took a couple of minutes to plug the 3 leads into the triax unit , set RF to on in sky settings, tune sky RF output to 21 from the default of 68 and also set Sky RF power to on. I now have a better picture quality on the other 3 connected tvs via the magic eye , especially sky than i did before. This is undoubtedly due to having an external power supply as opposed to previously running from the sky box. After initially considering going back to my 1 TB box, until i found out about this unit, i am glad i did not as it was easy to setup and it works better than before with a better picture. Buy the unit and dont be so silly as to not pay the extra £7 for the power supply as it is well worth it

Brilliant little piece of kit

Absolutely recommend this. Works a treat. Tried to use a wireless sender, but too much interference, and as we had the old sky box piped through the old aerial system, this was a cheaper alternative, even though was dubious it would work. Connection to the new sky box was easy, only one place you can put it, plugged in the original aerial and the output to the old tv's to this box. When first tried it, there was nothing, but remembered the instructions on the review I had previously seen (many thanks for those). Did what they said and hey presto, Sky and normal DTV aerial working on the older tv's (had to retune the analogue signal obviously on the tv's to get the sky, as instructed). Mrs is happy again, and I am £30 better off for nearest alternative. Have not tried the ability to change the channels, as would have to change the boosters we had when we had the old sky box to allow the pass through, but happy as it is, with a brilliant picture free from interference. It's a shame they dont put the Sky box setup instructions in with the kit, but good job we have the internet eh!!

Would have been 5 stars except for the slack connectors

Does the job well in providing an RF out option for the new Sky boxes. The only thing I wasn't struck on was that a couple of the connectors were a little slack and any movement of the box caused them to loose their connection/drop out altogether. It may just have been the one I was supplied with rather than a common fault. Didn't send it back - just packed the connections out a bit and it is fine now. Prompt delivery as usual.

Connecting to a Sky+HD Box Model DRX890W

I couldn't get this device to work when it first arrived, so I ordered the additional power supply just in case. That made no difference. I wasn't getting any picture on any output, either from the Sky box or Freeview. Eventually I found a setting in the Sky box which switched the power on the the RF Out socket and immediately the Triax Link began to work.My Sky+HD Box is a model DRX890W with 1TB hard disk. This instruction may also apply to other models. I couldn't find the exact instructions on Sky's website or any other website forum, I found it by accident. On your Sky remote press Services,0,0,1, press the Right arrow 3 times to highlight RF Out. Press the Down arrow twice to come down to RF Output Power Supply which should be set to ON. If it is OFF press the Right arrow to switch it ON and then save with the Green button. (Note that the setting above informs you that Sky will be output to your additional TVs on Channel 68. You can change the channel number if necessary.) Your Triax Link should now work.If your picture on the additional TVs looks like everyone's faces are a little stretched then you need to tell your Sky Box to output in 16:9 to match your widescreen TV. To do this press Services, 0, which takes you to Picture Settings. Press the Down button twice to come down to RF2 Picture Format and press the Right button a couple of times to select 16:9, and then the Green button to Save your settings. If your Magic Eyes don't work or are a little slow in response to your buttons then you probably need the additional Triax power supply. You can also buy an aerial amplifier/splitter for feeding multiple TVs. If you do then make sure you purchase an amplifier with a DC Power Pass Through. This makes it compatible with Magic Eyes and allows the power to pass through to them . If the amplifier spec doesn't say it is compatible with Magic Eyes then don't buy it.My Triax Link works beautifully. The picture quality is first class on 3 TVs and the remote controls work in 3 different rooms. Bear in mind that the picture quality will not be quite as good as through HDMI or Scart as it is being transmitted along an aerial cable. Also the sound will only be in mono. However a great product and a low cost solution for TV's in every room.
