Q: Does the spinner work

Yes, it's actually connected to the wheels through a drivetrain, complete with a differential. As you push the bot, the spinner spins. This toy is easily one of my kids' favorites. Heck, I think it's cool! You can set up plastic cups and send them flying with the spinner! Hoping they come out with other teams from BattleBots!

Q: Are these toys motorizes? Could they be made remotely operated?

Hi Chris, Jenna here with HEXBUG. These toys are not motorized but that doesn't mean with a little creativity you couldn't add a motor of your own. We at IFI do not manufacture a motor for this specific product. Hope that answers your question. Have a nice day!

My grandson used a motor from another robot he has. We were disappointed that it didn't come with one.
