GREAT Diet
Love this book and diet as carbs are my enemy. Losing inches quickly and always full/never hungry on this diet. This is now my new lifestyle vs a diet because it is so easy to follow and adapt to in everyday life. I carry the high fiber crackers everywhere I go and order the crackers from Walmart "online" - not found in their stores. The crackers are not expensive and you will need to order a case because Tanya uses them in all here recipes. TIP-these crackers also can be purchased as "granules" online at another website (just search it and it will come up). Be sure to shop prices as they vary. The granules are convenient to have (I order 6 bags at a time) because unless you have a powerful blender (i.e. Vitamix) or a food processor chopping up the crackers will be a small task.I love this book as it has recipes, log sheet to copy/use, examples of daily menu to follow, info to contact her if needed. I am a nurse practitioner and always focused on healthy lifestyle/weight. Not sure why this diet was not made more public because it works and is sustainable. I recommend it to my patients, family, and for my own personal use. Give it a good try - at least 4 wks to see some results. Ladies need to take all their "measurements" before the start of this diet because women may lose inches before wt (don't get depressed if the scale doesn't move for the first couple of weeks because your clothes may be the first noticable area of weight loss). I have more energy, stamina, feel great in the morning, NEVER ANY CONSTIPATION, and never hungry.Give it a try as you have nothing but weight to lose!Walking Girl

#goals
It matters what your goals are. Read the critical reviews, which where all about organic/healthy. Don’t get me wrong-those are good goals, but if you are a busy person who wants to primarily lose weight, you have different goals. I can cook organic and need a different book. This book delivers weight loss as effectively as low carb, without low carb. If you want to shred, buy this. You’ll feel effing fantastic and get skinny.

This diet works
I wish this book had more information about the diet, more sample menus and how to adapt it if you are vegetarian/gluten-free/dairy free...Also I could not find information about some vegetables (sunchokes are a vegetable or a carb?).So I find the book a bit short in information. But I did really like the chapter with examples of patients having some difficulties following the diet. All in all if you have some previous knowledge of nutrition, you can make it work.I have been doing it for a week now and I lost 2 pounds without feeling tired or too hungry. It has been a little bit of a challenge at first as I am on a gluten-free diet and I did not know what to replace the crackers with.First I thought of those crackers made of flax seeds, but some reviews said that they contain sand sometimes, so I opted for ground flax seeds instead. But I did not feel like eating a lot of it (one tablespoon on top of 1/2 cup of Chobani greek yoghourt felt like a lot already) so I ordered garden of life raw fiber instead.Garden of life raw fiber helped me a lot, it has 85 calories per serving, 11g of Carbohydrates with 9 grams of fibers, so they fit the requirements for the crackers, and let me feel full. Also I used the app "lose it!" on the iphone to keep track of what I eat, it works well enough as I did not find an app calculating the carbs the way the books says. Finally this diet is easy to follow at the restaurant as long as you go for salads, sashimis, things like that. The diet in itself is a very similar to any other diet out there: 3 small servings of carb/day including one serving of high fiber crackers, 4 small servings of proteins, lots of low-carb vegetables, lots of water and exercising. But one has to start somewhere and the mix of high protein, high fiber, low carb works.I was a bit surprised in the chapter about exercising that it is recommended to do weights to increase muscles, and that it is better than cardio.I would think that cardio is more important to boost the metabolism and for ones health (lots of article on this topic in the New York Times these last months), even though I don't deny that lifting weights must be good too.

Another carb diet book
Have to say, I had high hopes that maybe this would be helpful, however, the carb restriction is just too difficult to do. Made me get out my copy of THE SKINNY CARBS DIET.....both helpful....in the need to get more FIBER in our diets. This book links the carbs and fiber so that on week one (hate that were you go through stages) you get a NET carb of 35. TRUST me that is really nigh unto impossible! I have always eaten a high fiber diet, so figured I could jump ahead, however the net carbs are still insane. If you have followed South Beach, or Atkins, you might find this helpful. But for me....I have never lost fast anyway, and though this promises that, it is via LESS carbs... The SKINNY CARBS DIET has you getting in RESISTANT carbs (ones that pass through basically undigested).....so if you understand that, you could make this work. But for me.....I wll keep my Kindle version, but sending back the BOOK copy! Sorry....

Changed My Life
After a few of my friends started to drop pounds I inquired what was going on and they told me "Tanya Zuckerbrot's F-factor". I followed the plan and lost 15 lbs in 15 weeks (197-182 @ 5' 11") and have kept it off for 2 years. This is a way of life not a diet per say. My loss was slower than average because I didn't go all out. I have since met Tanya, she became my client and friend. This is a great, healthy, normal and fairly easy way to control your eating. Within reason you can eat anything you want. You decide how fast you want to lose. For me losing 15 lbs in 15 weeks was a lot easier than doing it the 5-7 I could of if I went all out.
