Uni Holder Quill Clamp for Test Dial Indicator Bridgeport Mill Machine Clamping Diameter 1-7/8"

This item arrived broken in the box. For some unfathomable reason, the threads opposite the first thumb screw have a hole drilled in the end, leading to an extremely thin wall. There is no reason to have done this, the thread goes straight into another part, there is nothing that would necessitate a hole in the end like this. The only reason to drill out the thread like this is to ensure the item breaks under normal use, possably in the hope that you will just go buy another one. Do NOT waste your time or money on this thing, find another holder.

This mounts easily and securely on my Grizzly mill. Once attached to the spindle it rotates freely with the spindle to reach a large (or small) circle of setting dimensions. The product is made from metal, I believe aluminum and the joints become very secure when set. And, it comes in a plastic case with a foam insert. If the insert could represent the product the representation would be of a fine instrument, the cutout for the quill clamp is as complex as the shape of the clamp. It must have taken the designer forever to design that case and insert. Overall this is a very fine product and highly recommended.

I bought this to use on my mill and it seems to do a great job. Can't believe I waited so long to buy one. I have been using a coaxial gauge, but it takes longer to set up.

The arms do not hold position well, you have to turn the spindle without touching the arm, and very carefully lift the DTI probe over edges of table grooves, because it gets bumped out of position very easily. I got it to work for tramming my mill, but I feel that it could be improved.

I use this frequently on my Bridgeport and in the Fadal. I did not expect this to be so good. My first impression was that it wouldn't tighten up enough. What I found is that the thumb screws don't have to feel tight for this to maintain whatever position I place it in. Especially for the price I would recommend this to anyone.

I used this at work for the first time today and it worked perfectly. I have had the WAY more expensive one in the past and this one is just as well built. I really like the case that it comes in, but I doubt that I will keep it in the case but it is nice to have it if I need it.

The thumb screw broke first time using it.
