Perfect for customization

Immediately upon opening the box, my first thought was that it's bigger than I thought it'd be. I previously had only an Aeon Siren, which was half the size -- but no matter, time to put it to the test.I found that pairing was a cinch; plug it in, push the button, tell my hub to pair with it - done. I was creating rules in just moments. The default chimes are identified in the device details page, and everything's so straightforward there's no instructions needed. Technically they DO give you instructions in the form of a QR code, but that only takes you to their SmartThings documentation. Not a big deal; I'm leaving ST for Hubitat, which is far superior.Of the default sounds, there's about 10 that are generic chimes. One of those ten is loud enough to hear anywhere in the house, but not so loud as to qualify as an alarm. There's ... 5 doorbell sounds, all very pleasant. There's miscellaneous spoken words such as "front door", "side door", "back door", etc. In general MOST of these default sounds are just a LITTLE bit quiet. You can replace them or add more, if you like. I'm going to look into doing that, so as to get a themed audio experience for my home :) Note - the default alarm sounds are freaking loud, which is to be expected. It can definitely blast out the volume!

Chime Volume Too Low

I added this to my Homeseer system. It was easy to pair and works well. I am going to echo what others have said, however: the "chimes" and other non-alarm sounds are WAY too quiet at 100% volume. I have it in my hallway outside of my office about 6 feet from the door. If my office door is closed I can barely hear it. The alarms, however, seem to be good volume. I didn't really want to use this for alarms.I may try custom sounds and see if I can boost the volume. I'll update this review if that is any better.

2 of 4 are completely dead

I bought 4 of these in spring of 2023 and 2 of them have now died and no longer generate any audio. I can turn on the indicator light so they are still connected to zwave but no audio comes out. The volume button presses no longer have the indicator tone and factory reset and even unplugging the internal battery has done nothing.

SD Card For Custom Sounds

While I have another Z-Wave siren, the device can only play the manufacture's preprogrammed siren variations. But I found that I needed the ability to alert inside the house things like garage door left open or the like. This product permits creating custom sounds, including voice recordings. In fact I used Apple's MacOS command line tool to create custom voice announcements for a number of different events. One downside of SD card WAV files, is that even at 100% volume the sound pressure level is not that great. The answer is scaling the WAV files, mostly into clipping, to achieve an announcement that can be heard at least on one floor of the house,Note I kept the older siren, placing it on the lower level, for real issues such as a break-in.

Plenty Loud if You Prep Your Sounds Right

Unique product, works well, very happy with it. We use it with SmartThings to announce specific driveway and perimeter alerts from a dozen beam-break sensors monitoring different parts of a large rural property. Previously was trying to accomplish this with a dozen unique alert noises, ugh. This Ecolink unit gives us the ability to do custom alert announcements -- a big upgrade. Some tips:1) Must Specify Device Handler. This is the only device where I've had to log in to the Samsung IDE website, edit the device, and actually specify the desired device handler. Until I did this, I tried adding the device to ST multiple times, but every time it showed up as just a generic Z-Wave device. Yeah you have to first add the device handler, but just adding the device handler alone wasn't sufficient.2) Increase Volume When You Create Sound Files. It's true that unedited sound files, including the stock chime sounds which come preloaded on the unit, aren't very loud. But lo and behold, if you simply edit the sound files to have increased volume (e.g. + 17 dB) and allow clipping, guess what? Suddenly it's plenty loud! Whatever distortion results is entirely acceptable. Now running all my announcements at 75% volume and I can easily hear them all a room or two away.3) Clean FAT32 Format of Micro SD Card. I'm using a 32 GB SD card formatted FAT32 and it works fine. Took some fiddling because I made the rookie mistake of not making sure the entire SD card only had a single FAT32 volume. Do yourself a favor and start with a clean FAT32 format of the entire card.
