Can I use this to open and close my Garage door??

Not practical. You'd have to have an opener that worked by having 12VDC applied across a set of contacts (not likely). You'd have to toggle the ON , then OFF every time you wanted to open or close the door since the RC switch stays on or off depending on the last command it got. You'd also have to have a 12VDC source to power the receiver. Finally, I bought 2 of these switches and the same remote works either one of them, so there is no security. Hard to beat a garage door opener with a remote for opening a garage dooor.

Yes if power fails,  when it goes back on the remote is in the off position. You have to click the on button again

Isn't there a way to open and close the relay and use the circuit without 12v output. I just want a switch without power out ?

This is where a little understanding of electronics comes in handy. The receiver has two parts: 1) its own power supply (12V) that MUST be present for the receiver to operate, and 2) the relay contacts. I think you are asking about the latter.

You must first power the receiver with 12V. When the receiver gets a signal from the transmitter to engage the relay, it will power the relay's 12V coil, and the relay CONTACTS are switched accordingly. When the relay is not energized, then the NC contact (normally closed) is connected to the common relay lead (COM), and the NO contact (normally open) is not connected. When the receiver is commanded to energize the relay, the contacts are reversed: NC is now open while NO is now closed. NC and NO refer to a relay's unpowered state.

I think you want to have access to the relay contacts without being tied to the 12V receiver power supply. If so, then yes, you CAN use the relay contacts independently of the 12V receiver power supply. You can switch a 1.5V battery or a 110VAC lamp ... it makes no difference. That's the joy of a relay: its contacts operate independently of the coil power. By definition, the contacts are isolated from everything else.

Shorter answer: yes. Have at it. Just remember that the receiver still needs a 12V power supply. It cannot operate without power.
