Q: Assuming a 2” design, what is the maximum distance between the edge of the page and the design?

Not sure this will be helpful..BUT. My design is 1 1/2 ". When I slide paper as far as it can go there is a 7/8" gap from the edge of the design to the edge of the paper. I tried to send a photo but would not accept it. You may want to contact the company for that answer. I found them easy to communicate with as I had several questions. Hope this helps in some way !

Q: If I will be using this to emboss metallic stickers, which orientation should I choose?

If you are embossing a sticker, it does not really matter. You can flip the sticker whichever way you want. I did the Bottom Type for my seal that I am also using on stickers, but that was just what I chose.

Q: Does this work on cardstock?

I ordered a pretty detailed image, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how well my embosser works on a variety of materials. Cardstock gave me no trouble at all. I imagine that cardstock and foil are pretty much the ideal materials for most applications. My overly-detailed plates even worked on thin leather, although I'm sure a simpler design would be better.

Q: How do I order multiple plates but only one device?

If you search for "... Plate only" it shouldn't be hard to find. My Amazon account has been deleted for no good reason that I know of, and it's almost impossible to get in touch with customer service without an active account, so I'm sorry I don't have a more exact answer. I do know that they are available from a few sources and when I was first looking for them it was mildly difficult. They are definitely there though. Good luck! PS depending on how hard you use your machine, the roughly 8 bucks that you save may not be worth as much as having a back up around. I use mine on anything I can fit between the plates and it didn't take long for me to wear out to the point of having a noticeable amount of play both up and down and, more importantly, side to side.
