Oi Duck-billed Platypus!

Animals in book are not all "impossible to rhyme with"
We got this as the other books in the series have been a great success with our son. I found this book to be extremely annoying as the basis was that it was for animals with impossible to rhyme with names. However, there were several in the book which I could easily find rhymes for. For example, budgerigars could sit on cigars or cars. Penguins could sit on engines. Ostriches could sit in ditches. Alligators could sit on refrigerators. Numbats could sit on cats, mats, gnats or hats. And kangaroos could sit on loos or digeridoos.

Another great addition to the 'Oi' series
I have read this many, MANY times to my two children, to the point where we can all recite it word for word (along with the other books in the "Oi" series!)We are big fans of the artwork, still laugh & find humour in the silly rhymes, and love to give the Frog, Cat & Dog our own dramatic interpretations.Highly recommended - loads & loads & loads of fun.

Kids like it, that's all that matters
Never read any of the oi series, home schooling an the school sent a video of the teacher reading a book (oi frog). That was it, my 4 year old was hooked and we've now got the whole series ?! We even mess around making up our own ones. Some are better than others but my children love reading them so that's all that matters. This book 'cheats' a bit, all the animals that you can't rhym anything with they just give a name instead that they can.

Bit samey as the others but the boy loves it!
Yet another hit with my nearly 6 year old. We read it last night for the first time (reward for our reward rocket chart as per my other reviews), and had a giggle...esp over poor Geraldine. Again I have to now do this in my frog, dog and cat voices...and now find umpteen voices for all the non rhyming animals too 😳 mistake on my part. The only thing I'd say, is as an adult, these are now a bit "samey", but they are helping the boy with his phonics and rhymes so...meh, I can cope with that.

Brilliant
I bought it for my husband who has a particular affection for platypus. Personally I just can't get enough of this series, but was intrigued to see how they would get round this in rhyme - very clever and I won't spoil the surprise.
