Q: what are the interior dimensions of the u lock?

The measurements listed are incorrect and misleading. The shackle measures just a hair over 7.5" from outer tip to tip, of which an inch is inserted into the lock bottom, yielding an actual interior dimension of 6 3/8" when locked. The actual interior width is only 1 5/8". It is useless for my intended purpose and I will be returning.

Q: I lost the instructions to set up a new combination before changing from original manufacturer code. How do I set my own code?

If it's locked & you don't have the code, you're out of luck (unless you try every combination possible... yikes!!). Otherwise, open the lock. Then there's a small recessed screw on the side. With lock open, you need a very, very small screwdriver to turn the screw. Then, set the new combination by rotating the dials. Once you have your new combination, just turn the screw back & it's now reprogrammed.Unfortunately, my lock was cut & my bike was stolen. The lock is so thin... it's almost worthless as a true deterrent.
