One of the deepest strategy games I've played.

Good seller, great game
First of all: this is for the second edition of the game. The first edition (with errata) is no longer in print.Great game for 2 players, not as complicated as it seems, just difficult to learn and with lots of minor exceptions to the rules. If you are a good game teacher, you can play this game with your friends easily so that they don't get taken aback from the rulebook and the complexity. The seller was good and it quickly delivered a replacement for the game, as the first box came with some damage.

received second printing
I was reluctant to order given the confusion about which printing would be delivered. The product delivered today was 2nd printing, so it has some corrections. The game is great, but perhaps a bit more complicated and fiddly than Twilight Struggle and 1989. It is not strictly a card driven game, but has much the same feel as those CDGs. I would not recommend this to someone until they played and enjoyed one of those predecessors, and were open to slightly more complicated. The theme is great, the execution is well done, great components. Highly recommended for avid boardgamers.

Game filled with playable options
Fantastic game endless options. You need to play 2 or 3 games to get the hang of it. Beautiful mounted map of 4 major regions of world French & British compete for alliances diplomacy in Europe & compete for control of markets in India South America & North America. The game is 10 turns 6 peace 4 war. I have several Compass games this one is a little more complicated but you are richly rewarded to take time to learn it

Very good game.
Loving playing IS on the board, very fun game with near infinite replayability, and fun to play solo, but is even more fun with two players.

Great game but terrible manual
This game is actually not super complicated but there are a lot of nitty-gritty rules that take a while to get used to. Also the manual is almost totally indecipherable, but there is a good how-to-play on YouTube. Otherwise a fantastic game once you get the hang of it.

Different in every way...
Gupta and Matthews’ latest game does not disappoint, unless you were expecting Twilight Struggle (the Enlightenment Edition). It is not a card driven game-the heart of the game is competing for a diminishing number of roles/actions, like Puerto Rico. These actions are then used to influence separate but interrelated Diplomatic, Military, and Economic subgames. The rules are slightly more complex than Twilight Struggle, but still less complex than almost every other GMT game. However, the tactical and strategic play is very deep-HOW to do things is easy to understand, but WHAT you should do is another question. Strongly recommended if you have a regular partner who likes deep strategic games lasting 3-4 hours.
