These soft foam shapes are a perfect tactile tool to help explain 3-dimensional concepts to your young learner. The 12 foam shapes give them a real feel for how a square drawn on a piece of paper is way different from a cube, or how a circle is different from a sphere.Concepts that are obvious to the adult mind are not always so to the emerging learner. Manipulatives are an especially good way to illustrate these higher level, dimensional concepts. Their look and feel also allows learners to visually count - versus decipher from 2-D drawings - the faces, edges and vertexes of each object. The 12 shapes are pretty standard, but I especially liked the inclusion of both the square pyramid contrasting with that of the triangular prism which also has a square bottom. Seeing these two shapes together, in real space and time, allowed my second grader to begin to grasp complex shape differences and formation. These are light-weight but sturdily constructed and brightly-colored shapes. And the plastic bucket is a handy container. I highly recommend adding this and the Learning Resources View-Thru Geometric Solids (LER4331) to your geometric toolkit.

Wonderful Geosolids Set!
I bought this for my 9 year old second grader, who has autism. He was learning geometry, and needed something hands-on to help him understand the vertices, faces and edges of solid figures. I had considered other, plastic sets, but decided against them because my son can be a little rough (unintentionally) with items. These soft figures were a blast for him and certainly made learning more enjoyable. He loved holding / squeezing the figures, and their 3-D shape made the geometry portion of learning more accessible to him. He could really see and touch all of the vertices, edges and faces as he counted them. I also didn't have to worry about his breaking anything, and the set contained all of the figures in his second grade curriculum.

Great tool to teach children about solid shapes.
I purchased this for my 5 year old son. They are very light weight. Soft so even if my toddler gets a hold of it and throws it, she won't be hurting anyone or my wooden floor. Nice that it comes in a tub with lid, easy to store. Would very much recommend for any one who wants to teach little ones about solids.

If you want montessori like geometric solids, get these.
I love these shapes. They are perfect sized for my toddler. She loves building with them and they are easy for her to grab.I got them to teach her geometric solids and these are perfect. She already has started identifying some of the shapes here.Best set I found and I compared several sets.

Great product
My kids are learning sooooo much with this product. I just wished that it came with maybe things to put on the walls as a reminder to the kids. I had to do that myself. Kids really enjoyed the hands on experience.

Perfect and Easy to Handle
Perfect for teaching the 6th grade CCGPS standards to my special needs students. They are brightly colored and easy to grasp. If they get tossed of or dropped, they do not hurt our toes and do not make loud noises on the floor.

Limited functionality
They are brightly colored and nice and soft. They don't have very much weight to them because, of the material they are constructed from and so it is difficult to stack them as they tend to fall over. I wish they had come with a set of directions because, after going over the shapes a few times, I really don't know what else to do with them. I noticed that the same company sold another set that is more interactive; you can fill them with water to see the difference in volume and they are clear so you can shine different lights through them plus they have more shapes then this set. Both sets are almost the same price so it seems like the better buy.
