Q: Can i still use the virgin hub/router so that i could have 4 hubs in total (with the 3 eero's i have purchased?)

Hi, I have a Virgin router, switched to modem mode (admin password on the card under the Virgin router to access IP and change the setting), two eero's (one hard wired to the Virgin switch and one wifi) all works perfectly, I would as we have buy some 10 metre network leads and move your eero hardwired to a more central point, as you know virgin fibre to modem normally by your TV and not the best location for overall coverage throughout your house. Our set up if it assists 1 x Virgin router in modem mode at the back of the TV where the fibre comes in, 2 x 10 metre flat cat 7 network cables to the eero box hardwired to a more central point in the main room for better coverage, 1 x netgear 4 port switch by the Virgin router to connect BG Hive, Samsung Smart TV, hard wired gaming PC and then one eero on wifi/mesh at the opposite end of the house - covers perfectly 4 bedroom house, all rooms and back garden patio area - hope that assists.

Q: Will this work with a virgin mediahub 3 and virgin boosters

Yes. I'm using it with one now. It doubled the speeds in all of my rooms around the house. It's about a 30 min setup but worth it. Put your Virgin Hub into "modem mode" for it to work. You'll need to do this through a browser go to http://192.168.0.1 and fiddle with the settings there. There is an option for "Modem mode".

Q: what if i dont have the access to a router

Every reply to this so far is incorrect. Let me explain. The "routers" you get from an ISP are usually a series of devices in one device and in the UK most households get broadband through a phone line (some via Virgin TV) the "routers" therefore contain a "broadband modem" within them and in these cases you must leave your current router connected (turn off it's Wifi if you can) and then connect one of these to it via a cable to let these do the rest of the work. In some homes (and growing) are proper internet connections that no longer require "modems". In those cases your wall socket will literally be a network cable connection. In those circumstances you can connect these to the wall direct and throw out the current router you have.

Q: Does the second eero need to be connected via a ethernet? or does it pair up the master one? can a tp-link also be used in conjunction with these?

The main eero device needs to be hardwired to your modem/router all the time while the additional eeros can be connected wirelessly so you can cover the dead spots. We highly recommend daisy-chaining them.
