NUPASTEL is my favorite sketch medium in the "charcoal/pastel" vein. I love how it feels on the paper! I have been using it since college in 1973 (my first drawing class) and I am happy to see the product has maintained its great qualities over the years. They have a nice professional quality.Colorfast, strong....lovely blending. (Keep a holder handy for when they snap or get small. USE to the "last drop"Also do not forget to get your "workable fixative" to keep sure and fresh.

Pastels are a great tool for learning to use colors and for traditional art. This was recommended by my art teacher and it works great. 12 colors is enough for most drawings, any less and you will have to rely on more blending to get the right color composition.However, some pastels came split in two when I received the package. This is not a big issue, but I would take care in handling the box as the pastels can easily break.

only difference was that they came in a larger box than is pictured. i was a bit apprehensive to purchase because they were much cheaper than the other vendors, but they arrived in great condition. i was also not sure what to think of them because they are branded as hard pastels, but ive found that they are still very creamy and blendable. a purchase im glad i made.

Love the Nupastels. You can use as they are, sharpen with a knife blade, or scrape off and use the powder. Good assortment.
