Essential Elements for Band – Oboe Book 1 | Beginner Oboe Method with EEi | Sheet Music and Online Audio

Oboe to me was just its name and look. Thus when I ordered a rosewood oboe, I also ordered three beginner books with it. They are this Essential Elements, Rubank Elementary Method, and Gekeler Method for Oboe. It turns out that I use only this book, the other two are hibernating in bookshelf. In pages 2-3, this books provides basics, including Posture, Breathing & Airstream, Treatment of Reed, Put the Oboe together, and Taking Care of Your Instrument, while the Gekeler Method has similar information in its Foreward, there is nothing in the Rubank Elementary Method. All of the three books include a fingering chart, only the chart in the pages 46-47 of this book is helpful to me that I was able to play some simple melodies with my new oboe right away, and I was NOT able to follow the chart in the others. Meanwhile the paper and printing of this book is much superior to the others. To me this is the best book among the three I purchased. 👍

This really is an excellent book for beginner oboe player. My son is really enjoying the exercises as he just started to learn to play in the last few weeks. The printing is very good and easy to follow instructions.

It is a good beginner book and purchase experience was good. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the student activation code coming with this new book does not appear to be valid for accessing the on-line resources as described by the book. I assume the code is supposed to work?
