Good tool for casual reupholterers
My wife and I recently reupholstered my Grandmother's old dining chairs, with fabric held on by literally hundreds of tacks! After wrestling with removing them from half of one chair, I bought this and after a few minutes getting comfortable with it, was removing tacks at a reasonable clip. This tool saved us many hours and much frustration. It also works pretty well for removing staples, which we had to do after slightly botching one chair and having to reposition its fabric. If you're a professional, there are better tools, but they cost more. If you do this sort of thing only infrequently (or only once), this is a good tool that's cheap enough to justify even for a single job. Definitely worth the money in time and frustration saved!

So handy
I bought this tool remove decorative nail head trim from an ottoman I am recovering. The tool worked great. I also used this to remove upholstery staples. I’m not sure how else I would have gotten them all out. I would buy again! Beware the little thing is sharp though.

Badly designed, risky to use. Buy a different type.
In my opinion, this make/model of tack remover is unsafe. The very first time I used it to try and pry up an upholstery tack, the wooden handle turned around in my hand as if the metal shaft wasn't even connected. The force I applied made the whole tool jerk out of position and the sharp pronged end punched through the muslin. I could have injured myself or ruined the upholstery fabric instead, very easily. Not worth it.

Shaft not secured - turns in base
It’s usable, but the shaft isn’t secured in place and turns in the base, so you can’t get leverage to pull staples and have to use pliers a lot.

It works!
The handle tends to rotate when using the tool. It worked well removing tacks from curtain rod brackets.

Get it if you are removing upholstery tacks!
Works well in removing upholstery tacks that had been on a chair since 1975. Definitely sped up the removal process and saved my knuckles. 👍🏻
