The Nolo books are over rated. There is a lot of information, but not enough forms, documents, examples and guides to use or go by. This is definitely not helpful. I purchased 3 books and I would not buy these again if I had to do it over again.

I have used Anthony Mancuso's How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation many times in its various editions over the past 25 years or so. Among many choices available, it is the go-to resource before you look at others or seek more specialized assistance. It is relatively inexpensive, especially relative to hugely expensive guides from the major law book publishers.I have found that the author's advice is accurate, current and especially helpful in terms of compliance with the complicated steps necessary to complete and assemble the Form 1023. I have filed many Form 1023 applications over the past 40 years and using Mancuso's book in conjunction with the IRS forms and instructions is always helpful in ensuring that you don't forget something really important.
