4pcs NodeMcu ESP8266 Module ESP-12E NodeMcu LUA CP2102 Internet WiFi Development Board Works with Arduino IDE Micropython

Each module came sealed in anti-static bag with pins in Styrofoam. The pinout displayed in the images were a nice reference and the instructions for setting up the IDE were clear. However, it is important to do the following when actually updating the module.1) Upload your compiled code with the correct COM port selected.2) On the module, hold down the "FLASH" button (located right side of micro-USB).3) Continue holding down the "FLASH" and press and release the "RESET" button (located left side of micro-USB).4) Now release the "FLASH" button.This was the only drawback for me as it wasn't mentioned anywhere that I referenced. That being said, you're getting a high quality chip that has the convenience of the headers already attached.

I am having so much fun with these.A tip. If you have any issues getting you sketches uploaded...When possible, disconnect it from the breadboard before uploading your sketch. There are other methods to allow flashing, but I've had more success simply disconnecting, uploading, then reconnecting.

As I write this review, there are no there are no other reviews, so I'm rushing in to write this review after only testing 1 of the 4. I want to let everyone know that I received these in their own separate anti-static bag with the board plugged in to styrofoam to protect the pins. The pins are straight on all 4 boards and the boards fit in to my breadboard. I'm a new to the ESP8266 family of controllers, so I have little else to tell you at this point. However, I used Platformio inside of my VScode IDE and was able to download a blink program using the Arduino framework and the Espressif8266 platform.I will come back at a later date to provide more detail and report my experience with the remaining 3 boards.

Having worked with various microcontrollers including several variations of the esp8266 and esp32 I found these to be of exceptional value and quality. They arrived well packaged in anti static packaging and pin protection, so no bent pins! I have had zero issues with functionality and there were no duds. Since these are in use I plan to order more vary soon.

I have been uploading and testing multiple different programs. All of them worked flawlessly (the NodeMCU's, not necessarily my first try at each code). I haven't used the Bluetooth yet, or range tested the wifi. The wifi programs I have run have all connected to my different WiFi locations or created their own hotspots quickly.

For some reason, all 4 of the boards still had remnants of the master PCB board to them. They had not been cleanly removed from the master sheet. Really strange and bad quality control. I have not had a chance to try to load firmware on them yet. If this is purely cosmetic and they run fine, I will up my rating to three stars. Otherwise, it will drop to a one-star if there are more issues.

I discovered these controllers after doing some research for Christmas lights. I watched a tutorial by DrZzs using these with WLED. I have tested two of the controllers and they work great. I also like the little keychain that came with them.
