Works great; currently driving one of my Achieva Shimian 2560x1440p displays in an Nvidia Surround/SLI setup. Take the chance!

I don't normally do product reviews, but considering the rather mediocre rating for this particular adapter cable, I figured i'd thrown my 2 cents in there in the hopes that someone finds it even a little bit helpful, since most people looking at this as a buying option are probably torn between the cost + need for such an adapter. :)I'll start off with my current setup:- GTX 970s in SLI- 3x Achieva Shimian IPS displays (2560x1440p each)I game using Nvidia Surround (7680x1440p) at times, and others I prefer to just use one monitor to game on.Initially, I used 2x Dual Link DVI-D cables to connect my top GTX 970 to 2x of my displays, with the third Dual Link DVI-D cable/monitor connected to my second card. With this set up (2 monitors on one card via dual link, 1 monitor on the second card via dual link), I can game in Surround, and SLI would be active using the "Span Displays with Surround" option in Nvidia Control Panel. However, having that setup prevents the use of SLI on only ONE monitor, while using the other two as accessory displays during gaming. In order to maintain SLI on a single monitor while simultaneously using the other two, all three monitor connections must come from the SAME card (TOP one, if you have SLI). Since my monitors only have a single Dual Link DVI-D connector each, I was forced to invest in a DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI-D adapter to utilize SLI while having my other two monitors active at the same time. That brought me to an hour or two of scouring the internet and various sites trying to look for a viable adapter. Most were Single Link DVI only, and the ones that were Dual Link appeared to be $90-130 in price, which was a little bit crazy, imo, for just an adapter. I never knew these things were that 'rare' and pricey!Really the only option of an "affordable" DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI-D was this cable from VisionTek. Even with the mixed/negative reviews, I took a chance and bought it at ~$30.00 knowing full well that Amazon has me covered in case this turned out to be a lemon/didn't work as advertised.Well, i'm happy to say that i'm glad I took that chance instead of spending ~$100 on one of the other USB-powered adapters, because this one indeed works as advertised! I am now able to connect 2x 1440p displays via Dual Link DVI-D, and 1x 1440p monitor via DisplayPort using this adapter and achieve SLI using the "Maximize 3D Performance" option in NVIDIA control panel, while having the other two monitors simultaneously active as independent monitors, without having to use "Surround" all the time (and again, all monitors are connected to my topmost card)!I will say though, that this adapter is somewhat....finicky, when the computer first boots up. The monitor I use this on lags about 3-4 seconds before turning on fully, and may show some wavy lines before the picture fully loads, compared to the other two that use the normal Dual Link DVI-D cables which power on pretty much right away with the full picture as soon as Windows loads. But that 3-4 second wait + the wavy lines are probably to be expected as the DisplayPort signal takes time to convert/translate.Overall, the lag on initial power on by 3-4 seconds isn't enough for me to knock a star off my rating. This thing works as advertised, but of course, YMMV, as not all monitors/GPUs/Dual Link DVI-D cables are created equal, and any combination of those might be enough to complicate things to where this doesn't end up working for you.As it stands, I highly recommend this adapter; it's worth a shot buying at $30 bucks and returning if it doesn't work out, instead of jumping the gun and spending $100+ on one of the USB powered ones right away. Good luck!!

Just doesn't work.

Doesn't work at all. The company claims this will work with a 30" Apple Cinema Display, which runs at 2560x1600 on dual-link DVI. I have a 30" HP LP3065 monitor which is the same thing as the Apple Cinema Display internally, as all of the components were manufactured by the same company (all made by LG, true of most 30" monitors of that era). The monitor AND cable are confirmed to work perfectly when plugged directly into a DVI port, but when using this adapter to plug it into a DisplayPort slot, all I get is a blank screen. Windows recognizes that the monitor is plugged in, detects the correct model and loads the driver, and lets me adjust the resolution from 800x600 up to 2560x1600, but the monitor insists there is no signal coming in no matter what resolution I set it at. Attaching it to a brand new EVGA 1070 GTX SC video card.I contacted VisionTek customer support, and they're blaming the DVI cable between the adapter and the monitor as being not a 'true' Dual Link cable, nevermind that this is the cable that the monitor shipped with and everything works fine without their adapter. I asked them for a recommendation on what Dual Link DVI cable would be compatible with their adapter, and they said "We can't give you a recommendation, you'll just have to try different cables and hope they work." Thanks, that's so helpful.Don't waste your time on this adapter. I purchased a Dell BizLink adapter after this, and the BizLink works perfectly with my existing DVI cable.

Works with ASUS VG278HE and runs at 144hz!

Works with my ASUS 278HE AND is at 144 HZ!Purchased a new RTX 2080ti blindly without looking at the outputs. Little did I realize is that the new GPU only has DisplayPort, HDMI, and Type C outputs. I did my research online and came to the conclusion that I needed a very expensive active cable adapter to get this to work. Online forum led me to this adapter here on Amazon with mixed results. Reviews are mixed, but It was cheap. I said why not? I would have been happy with 120hz which some reviewers we're claiming to achieve. The adapter was plug in play. Worked right out of the packaging. I go to NVIDIA control panel and to my surprise? It would also allow me to do 144hz!The monitor only has one minor issue and that it pops up a message every time I turn it on saying "Incorrect cable. Please use dual-link DVI cable that came with your monitor". All I have to do is hit the menu button to exit and then Cha ching! A working cheap active adapter to get my monitor to work with the new RTX 2080ti!Obviously miles will vary with each monitor. I'll update if I run into further issues. As of right now, I'm super happy!
