COOLPIX S6600 S6600WH

I bought this camera direct from Japan, even though I understand the warranty is not valid in the USA. Nikon is a good manufacturer and I trust this particular camera will be defect free. Also for the same reason, I don't think the extended warranty will cover it, best to make sure with the warranty company before purchasing. That said, I really, really wanted this camera but I waited until I saw it was not announced as a US model at the Consumer Electronics Show in January before buying direct from Japan. The main reason is the "Vari-angle" screen. I was on vacation in Italy almost two years ago. We were in St. Peter's square on a Saturday when the Pope took a tour around the square. I tried to take an overhead shot with my fixed screen camera but all I could see was glare in the sunlight. I did my best to aim the camera at the pope, but only got shots of his hands or his nose, or the guards surrounding him. I am sure that if I had the vari-angle display, I could have captured some decent shots. I also bought this because it has a respectable 12X optical zoom for those touristy far off shots and because it has a backside CMOS sensor, meaning it should do great in low light. I have not taken it on vacation yet, but am pretty sure it will perform as expected, and it's pocket-able as well! I am jazzed by this new camera and wish they would offer it in the USA, except of course I am one of a very select group of owners here in the USA for now. I will update if my experience changes.

excellent performance, highly recommended

I went with the seller who didn't offer free shipping bc they offered the camera+ all accessories and besides I wanted it ASAP so I planned on paying for expedited shipping anyway. Worth it. They included everything but the card which obviously u have to buy or already have. They also packaged it well and tucked it inside the cute Minnie bag in the photo.Camera works as expected and it was easy enough to Google how to change the language on the camera from Japanese to English.Very pleased.

I bought this camera for my daughter. Its very nice and good for travel since its compact and she's able to rotate the lens. The problem was when she gets to her distination the camera freezed and she cant use it. She end up buying disposable camera. And after five days the camera started working again. I developed the pictures and they are excellent.
